1 In those days there was no king in Israel, and in those days the Danites were looking for a heritage for themselves, to be their living-place; for up to that time no distribution of land had been made to them among the tribes of Israel.
1 En ce temps-là, il n'y avait point de roi en Israël; et la tribu des Danites se cherchait une possession pour s'établir, car jusqu'à ce jour il ne lui était point échu d'héritage au milieu des tribus d'Israël.

1 En aquellos días no había rey en Israel. Y en aquellos días la tribu de Dan buscaba posesión para sí donde morase, porque hasta entonces no le había caído suerte entre las tribus de Israel por heredad.
1 Zu der Zeit war kein König in Israel. Und der Stamm der Daniter suchte sich ein Erbteil, da sie wohnen möchten; denn es war bis auf den Tag noch kein Erbe auf sie gefallen unter den Stämmen Israels.
2 So the children of Dan sent five men from among their number, strong men, from Zorah and from Eshtaol, to take a look at the land and make a search through it; and they said to them, Go and make a search through the land; and they came to the hill-country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, where they made a stop for the night.
2 Les fils de Dan prirent sur eux tous, parmi leurs familles, cinq hommes vaillants, qu'ils envoyèrent de Tsorea et d'Eschthaol, pour explorer le pays et pour l'examiner. Ils leur dirent: Allez, examinez le pays. Ils arrivèrent dans la montagne d'Éphraïm jusqu'à la maison de Mica, et ils y passèrent la nuit.

2 Und die Kinder Dan sandten aus ihren Geschlechtern von ihren Enden fünf streitbare Männer von Zora und Esthaol, das Land zu erkunden und zu erforschen, und sprachen zu ihnen: Ziehet hin und erforschet das Land. Und sie kamen auf das Gebirge Ephraim ans Haus Michas und blieben über Nacht daselbst.
3 When they were near the house of Micah, hearing a voice which was not strange to them, that of the young Levite, they went out of their road to his place, and said to him, How did you come here? and what are you doing in this place? and why are you here?
3 Comme ils étaient près de la maison de Mica, ils reconnurent la voix du jeune Lévite, s'approchèrent et lui dirent: Qui t'a amené ici? que fais-tu dans ce lieu? et qu'as-tu ici?

3 Und da sie bei dem Gesinde Michas waren, erkannten sie die Stimme des Jünglings, des Leviten; und sie wichen von ihrem Weg dahin und sprachen zu ihm: Wer hat dich hierhergebracht? Was machst du da? Und was hast du hier?
4 And he said to them, This is what Micah did for me, and he gave me payment and I became his priest.
4 Il leur répondit: Mica fait pour moi telle et telle chose, il me donne un salaire, et je lui sers de prêtre.
4 D'fhreagair sé: “Rinne Míceá a leithéid seo dom. Tugann sé tuarastal dom agus is sagart aige mé.”
4 Y él les respondió: De esta y de esta manera ha hecho conmigo Michâs, y me ha tomado para que sea su sacerdote.

5 Then they said, Do get directions from God for us, to see if the journey on which we are going will have a good outcome.

5 Y ellos le dijeron: Pregunta pues ahora á Dios, para que sepamos si ha de prosperar nuestro viaje que hacemos.
5 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Frage doch Gott, daß wir erfahren, ob unser Weg, den wir wandeln, auch wohl geraten werde.
6 And the priest said to them, Go in peace: your way is guided by the Lord.
6 Et le prêtre leur répondit: Allez en paix; le voyage que vous faites est sous le regard de l'Éternel.
6 Dúirt an sagart leo: “Imígí faoi shíocháin; tá súil an Tiarna oraibh ar an turas seo.”
6 Y el sacerdote les respondió: Id en paz, que vuestro viaje que hacéis es delante de Jehová.
6 Der Priester antwortete ihnen: Ziehet hin mit Frieden; euer Weg, den ihr ziehet, ist recht vor dem HERRN.
7 Then the five men went on their way and came to Laish and saw the people who were there, living without thought of danger, like the Zidonians, quiet and safe; for they had everything on earth for their needs, and they were far from the Zidonians and had no business with Aram.
7 Les cinq hommes partirent, et ils arrivèrent à Laïs. Ils virent le peuple qui y était vivant en sécurité à la manière des Sidoniens, tranquille et sans inquiétude; il n'y avait dans le pays personne qui leur fît le moindre outrage en dominant sur eux; ils étaient éloignés des Sidoniens, et ils n'avaient pas de liaison avec d'autres hommes.
7 D'imigh an cúigear leo agus thángadar go Láís, agus chonaiceadar go raibh muintir na háite sin ina gcónaí ansiúd gan bhuaireamh, dála na Síodónach, gan aighneas gan drochiontaoibh; nach raibh aon ní faoin spéir in easnamh orthu; go rabhadar i bhfad ó na Síodónaigh agus gan baint acu leis na [hArámaigh].
7 Entonces aquellos cinco hombres se partieron, y vinieron á Lais: y vieron que el pueblo que habitaba en ella estaba seguro, ocioso y confiado, conforme á la costumbre de los de Sidón; no había nadie en aquella región que los perturbase en cosa alguna para poseer aquel estado; demás de esto, estaban lejos de los Sidonios, y no tenían negocios con nadie.
7 Da gingen die fünf Männer hin und kamen gen Lais und sahen das Volk, das darin war, sicher wohnen auf die Weise wie die Sidonier, still und sicher; und war niemand, der ihnen Leid täte im Land oder Herr über sie wäre, und waren ferne von den Sidoniern und hatten nichts mit Leuten zu tun.
8 So they came back to their brothers in Zorah and Eshtaol, and their brothers said to them, What news have you?
8 Ils revinrent auprès de leurs frères à Tsorea et Eschthaol, et leurs frères leur dirent: Quelle nouvelle apportez-vous?
8 D'fhilleadar ansin ar a ngaolta i Zorá agus in Eisteáól, agus nuair a d'fhiafraíodarsan díobh: “Cén tuairisc atá agaibh?”
8 Volviendo pues ellos á sus hermanos en Sora y Esthaol, sus hermanos les dijeron: ¿Qué hay? y ellos respondieron:
8 Und sie kamen zu ihren Brüdern gen Zora und Esthaol; und ihre Brüder sprachen zu ihnen: Wie steht's mit euch?
9 And they said, Up! and let us go against Laish; for we have seen the land, and it is very good: why are you doing nothing? Do not be slow to go in and take the land for your heritage.
9 Allons! répondirent-ils, montons contre eux; car nous avons vu le pays, et voici, il est très bon. Quoi! vous restez sans rien dire! Ne soyez point paresseux à vous mettre en marche pour aller prendre possession de ce pays.
9 d'fhreagraíodar: “Bímis inár suí! Téimis ina gcoinne mar tá an tír feicthe againn agus tá sé an- torthúil. Ach sibhse - cad ab áil libh ansin i bhur staic? Cuirigí chun bóthair gan mhoill agus gabhaigí seilbh ar an tír.
9 Levantaos, subamos contra ellos; porque nosotros hemos explorado la región, y hemos visto que es muy buena: ¿y vosotros os estáis quedos? no seáis perezosos en poneros en marcha para ir á poseer la tierra.
9 Sie sprachen: Auf, laßt uns zu ihnen hinaufziehen! denn wir haben das Land besehen, das ist sehr gut. Darum eilt und seid nicht faul zu ziehen, daß ihr kommt, das Land einzunehmen.
10 When you come there you will come to a people living without thought of danger; and the land is wide, and God has given it into your hands: a place where there is everything on earth for man's needs.
10 Quand vous y entrerez, vous arriverez vers un peuple en sécurité. Le pays est vaste, et Dieu l'a livré entre vos mains; c'est un lieu où rien ne manque de tout ce qui est sur la terre.
10 Nuair a shroichfidh sibh é, beidh pobal gan chosaint romhaibh. Tá an dúiche fairsing; níl aon ní faoin spéir in easnamh ar an áit atá curtha faoi bhur smacht ag Dia.”
10 Cuando allá llegareis, vendréis á una gente segura, y á una tierra de ancho asiento; pues que Dios la ha entregado en vuestras manos; lugar donde no hay falta de cosa que sea en la tierra.
10 Wenn ihr kommt, werdet ihr zu einem sichern Volke kommen, und das Land ist weit und breit; denn Gott hat's in eure Hände gegeben, einen solchen Ort, da nichts gebricht an alle dem, was auf Erden ist.
11 So six hundred men of the Danites from Zorah and Eshtaol went out armed with instruments of war.
11 Six cents hommes de la famille de Dan partirent de Tsorea et d'Eschthaol, munis de leurs armes de guerre.
11 Chuir sé chéad fear de threibh Dhán chun bóthair ó Zorá agus ó Eisteáól, agus airm chogaidh acu.
11 Y partiendo los de Dan de allí, de Sora y de Esthaol, seiscientos hombres armados de armas de guerra,

12 And they went up and put up their tents in Kiriath-jearim in Judah: so that place is named Mahaneh-dan to this day. It is to the west of Kiriath-jearim.
12 Ils montèrent, et campèrent à Kirjath Jearim en Juda; c'est pourquoi ce lieu, qui est derrière Kirjath Jearim, a été appelé jusqu'à ce jour Machané Dan.

12 Fueron y asentaron campo en Chîriath-jearim, en Judá; de donde aquel lugar fué llamado el campo de Dan, hasta hoy: está detrás de Chîriath-jearim.
12 und zogen hinauf und lagerten sich zu Kirjath-Jearim in Juda. Daher nannten sie die Stätte das Lager Dan bis auf diesen Tag, das hinter Kirjath-Jearim liegt.
13 From there they went on to the hill-country of Ephraim and came to the house of Micah.
13 Ils passèrent de là dans la montagne d'Éphraïm, et ils arrivèrent jusqu'à la maison de Mica.
13 Chuadar as sin go hardáin Eafráim agus thángadar go teach Mhíceá.
13 Y pasando de allí al monte de Ephraim, vinieron hasta la casa de Michâs.
13 Und von da gingen sie auf das Gebirge Ephraim und kamen zum Hause Michas.
14 Then the five men who had gone to make a search through the country of Laish, said to their brothers, Have you knowledge that in these houses there is an ephod and family gods and a pictured image and a metal image? So now you see what to do.
14 Alors les cinq hommes qui étaient allés pour explorer le pays de Laïs prirent la parole et dirent à leurs frères: Savez-vous qu'il y a dans ces maisons-là un éphod, des théraphim, une image taillée et une image en fonte? Voyez maintenant ce que vous avez à faire.
14 Ansin labhair an cúigear a chuaigh chun dúiche Láis a thaiscéaladh agus dúirt lena mbráithre: “An bhfuil fhios agaibh go bhfuil éafód agus taráfaím agus íomhá ghreanta [íol de mhiotal leáite] sna tithe seo? Déanaigí machnamh dá bhrí sin ar a bhfuil le déanamh agaibh.”
14 Entonces aquellos cinco hombres que habían ido á reconocer la tierra de Lais, dijeron á sus hermanos: ¿No sabéis como en estas casas hay ephod y teraphim, é imagen de talla y de fundición? Mirad pues lo que habéis de hacer.
14 Da antworteten die fünf Männer, die ausgegangen waren, das Land Lais zu erkunden, und sprachen zu ihren Brüdern: Wißt ihr auch, daß in diesen Häusern ein Leibrock, Hausgötzen, Bildnis und Abgott sind? Nun möget ihr denken, was euch zu tun ist.
15 And turning from their road they came to the house of the young Levite, the house of Micah, and said to him, Is it well with you?
15 Ils s'approchèrent de là, entrèrent dans la maison du jeune Lévite, dans la maison de Mica, et lui demandèrent comment il se portait.
15 Chasadar i leataobh ansin agus chuadar go teach an Léivítigh óig in áitreabh Mhíceá, agus chuir siad a thuairisc.
15 Y llegándose allá, vinieron á la casa del joven Levita en casa de Michâs, y preguntáronle cómo estaba.
15 Sie kehrten da ein und kamen an das Haus des Jünglings, des Leviten, in Michas Haus und grüßten ihn freundlich.
16 And the six hundred armed men of the Danites took their places by the doorway.
16 Les six cents hommes d'entre les fils de Dan, munis de leurs armes de guerre, se tenaient à l'entrée de la porte.

17 Then the five men who had gone to make a search through the land, went in and took the pictured image and the ephod and the family gods and the metal image; and the priest was by the doorway with the six hundred armed men.
17 Et les cinq hommes qui étaient allés pour explorer le pays montèrent et entrèrent dans la maison; ils prirent l'image taillée, l'éphod, les théraphim, et l'image en fonte, pendant que le prêtre était à l'entrée de la porte avec les six cents hommes munis de leurs armes de guerre.
17 chuaigh an cúigear a rinne an tír a thaiscéaladh ar aghaidh isteach sa teach, thógadar leo an íomhá ghreanta, an t‑éafód agus an taráfaím [agus an t‑íol de mhiotal leáite]; bhí an sagart idir an dá linn ina sheasamh ansiúd ar thairseach an gheata leis an sé chéad fear faoi airm chogaidh.
17 Y subiendo los cinco hombres que habían ido á reconocer la tierra, entraron allá, y tomaron la imagen de talla, y el ephod, y el teraphim, y la imagen de fundición, mientras estaba el sacerdote á la entrada de la puerta con los seiscientos hombres armados de armas de guerra.
17 Und die fünf Männer, die das Land zu erkunden ausgezogen waren, gingen hinauf und kamen dahin und nahmen das Bild, den Leibrock, die Hausgötzen und den Abgott. Dieweil stand der Priester vor dem Tor bei den sechshundert Gerüsteten mit ihren Waffen.
18 And when they went into Micah's house and took out the pictured image and the ephod and the family gods and the metal image, the priest said to them, What are you doing?
18 Lorsqu'ils furent entrés dans la maison de Mica, et qu'ils eurent pris l'image taillée, l'éphod, les théraphim, et l'image en fonte, le prêtre leur dit: Que faites-vous?
18 Nuair a chuaigh na fir úd isteach i dteach Mhíceá agus gur thógadar leo an íomhá ghreanta, an t‑éafód, an taráfaím [agus an t‑íol de mhiotal leáite], dúirt an sagart leo: “Cad tá ar siúl agaibh?”
18 Entrando pues aquellos en la casa de Michâs, tomaron la imagen de talla, el ephod, y el teraphim, y la imagen de fundición. Y el sacerdote les dijo: ¿Qué hacéis vosotros?
18 Als nun jene ins Haus Michas gekommen waren und nahmen das Bild, den Leibrock, die Hausgötzen und den Abgott, sprach der Priester zu ihnen: Was macht ihr?
19 And they said to him, Be quiet; say nothing, and come with us and be our father and priest; is it better for you to be priest to one man's house or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?
19 Ils lui répondirent: Tais-toi, mets ta main sur ta bouche, et viens avec nous; tu nous serviras de père et de prêtre. Vaut-il mieux que tu serves de prêtre à la maison d'un seul homme, ou que tu serves de prêtre à une tribu et à une famille en Israël?
19 Dúradar leis: “Bí i do thost! Cuir do lámh thar do bhéal agus téanam linn, agus bí i d'athair agus i do shagart againn. An fearr duit a bheith i do shagart do theaghlach aon duine amháin, nó a bheith i do shagart do threibh agus d'fhine in Iosrael?”
19 Y ellos le respondieron: Calla, pon la mano sobre tu boca, y vente con nosotros, para que seas nuestro padre y sacerdote. ¿Es mejor que seas tú sacerdote en casa de un hombre solo, que de una tribu y familia de Israel?
19 Sie antworteten ihm: Schweige und halte das Maul zu und ziehe mit uns, daß du unser Vater und Priester seist. Ist dir's besser, daß du in des einen Mannes Haus Priester seist oder unter einem ganzen Stamm und Geschlecht in Israel?
20 Then the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod and the family gods and the pictured image and went with the people.
20 Le prêtre éprouva de la joie dans son coeur; il prit l'éphod, les théraphim, et l'image taillée, et se joignit à la troupe.
20 Bhí áthas croí ar an sagart; thóg sé an t‑éafód, an taráfaím agus an íomhá ghreanta agus d'imigh leis i lár na buíne.
20 Y alegróse el corazón del sacerdote; el cual tomando el ephod y el teraphim, y la imagen, vínose entre la gente.
20 Das gefiel dem Priester wohl, und er nahm den Leibrock, die Hausgötzen und das Bild und kam mit unter das Volk.
21 So they went on their way again, putting the little ones and the oxen and the goods in front of them.
21 Ils se remirent en route et partirent, en plaçant devant eux les enfants, le bétail et les bagages.

22 When they had gone some way from the house of Micah, the men from the houses near Micah's house came together and overtook the children of Dan,
22 Comme ils étaient déjà loin de la maison de Mica, les gens qui habitaient les maisons voisines de celle de Mica se rassemblèrent et poursuivirent les fils de Dan.

22 Y cuando ya se habían alejado de la casa de Michâs, los hombres que habitaban en las casas cercanas á la casa de Michâs, se juntaron, y siguieron á los hijos de Dan.

23 Crying out to them. And the Danites, turning round, said to Micah, What is your trouble, that you have taken up arms?

23 Sie aber wandten ihr Antlitz um und sprachen zu Micha: was ist dir, daß du also zuhauf kommst?
24 And he said, You have taken my gods which I made, and my priest, and have gone away; what is there for me now? Why then do you say to me, What is your trouble?
24 Il répondit: Mes dieux que j'avais faits, vous les avez enlevés avec le prêtre et vous êtes partis: que me reste-t-il? Comment donc pouvez-vous me dire: Qu'as-tu?
24 D'fhreagair sé: “Thóg sibh libh an dia a rinne mé dom féin, agus thóg sibh an sagart chomh maith. Tá sibhse ag imeacht libh, agus cad atá fágtha agamsa? Cén chaoi a bhféadfadh sibh ceist a chur: ‘Cad tá ort?’ ”
24 Y él respondió: Mis dioses que yo hice, que lleváis juntamente con el sacerdote, y os vais: ¿qué más me queda? ¿y á qué propósito me decís: Qué tienes?
24 Er antwortete: Ihr habt meine Götter genommen, die ich gemacht hatte, und den Priester und ziehet hin; und was habe ich nun mehr? Und ihr fragt noch, was mir fehle?
25 And the children of Dan said to him, Say no more, or men of bitter spirit may make an attack on you, causing loss of your life and the lives of your people.
25 Les fils de Dan lui dirent: Ne fais pas entendre ta voix près de nous; sinon des hommes irrités se jetteront sur vous, et tu causeras ta perte et celle de ta maison.
25 D'fhreagair muintir Dhán: “Ná bíodh focal eile le clos againn uait le heagla go dtiocfadh fearg ar dhaoine leat agus tabhairt fút, agus go gcaillfí thú féin agus go gcaillfí do theaghlach uile chomh maith.”
25 Y los hijos de Dan le dijeron: No des voces tras nosotros, no sea que los de ánimo colérico os acometan, y pierdas también tu vida, y la vida de los tuyos.
25 Aber die Kinder Dan sprachen zu ihm: Laß deine Stimme nicht hören bei uns, daß nicht auf dich stoßen zornige Leute und deine Seele und deines Hauses Seele nicht hingerafft werde!
26 Then the children of Dan went on their way; and when Micah saw that they were stronger than he, he went back to his house.
26 Et les fils de Dan continuèrent leur route. Mica, voyant qu'ils étaient plus forts que lui, s'en retourna et revint dans sa maison.
26 D'imigh muintir Dhán leo ansin agus nuair a chonaic Míceá go rabhadar róthréan dó, chas sé ar a sháil agus chuaigh abhaile. Scrín Dhán
26 Y yéndose los hijos de Dan su camino, y viendo Michâs que eran más fuertes que él, volvióse y regresó á su casa.
26 Also gingen die Kinder Dan ihres Weges. Und Micha, da er sah, daß sie ihm zu stark waren, wandte er sich um und kam wieder zu seinem Hause.
27 And they took that which Micah had made, and his priest, and came to Laish, to a people living quietly and without thought of danger, and they put them to the sword without mercy, burning down their town.
27 Ils enlevèrent ainsi ce qu'avait fait Mica et emmenèrent le prêtre qui était à son service, et ils tombèrent sur Laïs, sur un peuple tranquille et en sécurité; ils le passèrent au fil de l'épée, et ils brûlèrent la ville.
27 Thug muintir Dhán leo an rud a rinne Míceá agus an sagart a d'fhónadh dó, agus mháirseáladar in aghaidh Láis, pobal síochánta gan drochiontaoibh. Rinneadar ár agus eirleach orthu agus chuireadar an chathair trí thine.
27 Y ellos llevando las cosas que había hecho Michâs, juntamente con el sacerdote que tenía, llegaron á Lais, al pueblo reposado y seguro; y metiéronlos á cuchillo, y abrasaron la ciudad con fuego.

28 And they had no saviour, because it was far from Zidon, and they had no business with Aram; and it was in the valley which is the property of Beth-rehob. And building up the town again they took it for their living-place.

29 And they gave the town the name of Dan, after Dan their father, who was the son of Israel: though the town had been named Laish at first.
