1 Now, as to the things in your letter to me: It is good for a man to have nothing to do with a woman.

2 But because of the desires of the flesh, let every man have his wife, and every woman her husband.
2 Toutefois, pour éviter l'impudicité, que chacun ait sa femme, et que chaque femme ait son mari.

4 The wife has not power over her body, but the husband; and in the same way the husband has not power over his body, but the wife.
4 La femme n'a pas autorité sur son propre corps, mais c'est le mari; et pareillement, le mari n'a pas autorité sur son propre corps, mais c'est la femme.

4 Das Weib ist ihres Leibes nicht mächtig, sondern der Mann. Desgleichen der Mann ist seines Leibes nicht mächtig, sondern das Weib.
5 Do not keep back from one another what is right, but only for a short time, and by agreement, so that you may give yourselves to prayer, and come together again; so that Satan may not get the better of you through your loss of self-control.
5 Ne vous privez point l'un de l'autre, si ce n'est d'un commun accord pour un temps, afin de vaquer à la prière; puis retournez ensemble, de peur que Satan ne vous tente par votre incontinence.

5 No os defraudéis el uno al otro, á no ser por algún tiempo de mutuo consentimiento, para ocuparos en la oración: y volved á juntaros en uno, porque no os tiente Satanás á causa de vuestra incontinencia.
5 Entziehe sich nicht eins dem andern, es sei denn aus beider Bewilligung eine Zeitlang, daß ihr zum Fasten und Beten Muße habt; und kommt wiederum zusammen, auf daß euch der Satan nicht versuche um eurer Unkeuschheit willen.
6 But this I say as my opinion, and not as an order of the Lord.

9 But if they have not self-control let them get married; for married life is better than the burning of desire.

9 Y si no tienen don de continencia, cásense; que mejor es casarse que quemarse.

10 But to the married I give orders, though not I but the Lord, that the wife may not go away from her husband

12 But to the rest I say, and not the Lord; If a brother has a wife who is not a Christian, and it is her desire to go on living with him, let him not go away from her.
12 Aux autres, ce n'est pas le Seigneur, c'est moi qui dis: Si un frère a une femme non-croyante, et qu'elle consente à habiter avec lui, qu'il ne la répudie point;

12 Den andern aber sage ich, nicht der HERR: So ein Bruder ein ungläubiges Weib hat, und sie läßt es sich gefallen, bei ihm zu wohnen, der scheide sich nicht von ihr.
13 And if a woman has a husband who is not a Christian, and it is his desire to go on living with her, let her not go away from her husband.
13 et si une femme a un mari non-croyant, et qu'il consente à habiter avec elle, qu'elle ne répudie point son mari.

14 For the husband who has not faith is made holy through his Christian wife, and the wife who is not a Christian is made holy through the brother: if not, your children would be unholy, but now are they holy.
14 Car le mari non-croyant est sanctifié par la femme, et la femme non-croyante est sanctifiée par le frère; autrement, vos enfants seraient impurs, tandis que maintenant ils sont saints.

15 But if the one who is not a Christian has a desire to go away, let it be so: the brother or the sister in such a position is not forced to do one thing or the other: but it is God's pleasure that we may be at peace with one another.
15 Si le non-croyant se sépare, qu'il se sépare; le frère ou la soeur ne sont pas liés dans ces cas-là. Dieu nous a appelés à vivre en paix.

15 So aber der Ungläubige sich scheidet, so laß ihn scheiden. Es ist der Bruder oder die Schwester nicht gefangen in solchen Fällen. Im Frieden aber hat uns Gott berufen.
16 For how may you be certain, O wife, that you will not be the cause of salvation to your husband? or you, O husband, that you may not do the same for your wife?
16 Car que sais-tu, femme, si tu sauveras ton mari? Ou que sais-tu, mari, si tu sauveras ta femme?

17 Only, as the Lord has given to a man, and as is the purpose of God for him, so let him go on living. And these are my orders for all the churches.
17 Seulement, que chacun marche selon la part que le Seigneur lui a faite, selon l'appel qu'il a reçu de Dieu. C'est ainsi que je l'ordonne dans toutes les Églises.

18 If any man who is a Christian has had circumcision, let him keep so; and if any man who is a Christian has not had circumcision, let him make no change.
18 Quelqu'un a-t-il été appelé étant circoncis, qu'il demeure circoncis; quelqu'un a-t-il été appelé étant incirconcis, qu'il ne se fasse pas circoncire.

18 ¿Es llamado alguno circuncidado? quédese circunciso. ¿Es llamado alguno incircuncidado? que no se circuncide.
18 Ist jemand beschnitten berufen, der halte an der Beschneidung. Ist jemand unbeschnitten berufen, der lasse sich nicht beschneiden.
19 Circumcision is nothing, and its opposite is nothing, but only doing the orders of God is of value.
19 La circoncision n'est rien, et l'incirconcision n'est rien, mais l'observation des commandements de Dieu est tout.

23 It is the Lord who has made payment for you: be not servants of men.

25 Von den Jungfrauen aber habe ich kein Gebot des HERRN; ich sage aber meine Meinung, als der ich Barmherzigkeit erlangt habe vom HERRN, treu zu sein.
26 In my opinion then, because of the present trouble, it is good for a man to keep as he is.
26 Voici donc ce que j'estime bon, à cause des temps difficiles qui s'approchent: il est bon à un homme d'être ainsi.

27 If you are married to a wife, make no attempt to get free from her: if you are free from a wife, do not take a wife.

27 Bist du an ein Weib gebunden, so suche nicht los zu werden; bist du los vom Weibe, so suche kein Weib.
28 If you get married it is not a sin; and if an unmarried woman gets married it is not a sin. But those who do so will have trouble in the flesh. But I will not be hard on you.
28 Si tu t'es marié, tu n'as point péché; et si la vierge s'est mariée, elle n'a point péché; mais ces personnes auront des tribulations dans la chair, et je voudrais vous les épargner.

29 But I say this, my brothers, the time is short; and from now it will be wise for those who have wives to be as if they had them not;

30 And for those who are in sorrow, to give no signs of it; and for those who are glad, to give no signs of joy; and for those who are getting property, to be as if they had nothing;

31 And for those who make use of the world, not to be using it fully; for this world's way of life will quickly come to an end.
31 et ceux qui usent du monde comme n'en usant pas, car la figure de ce monde passe.

31 Y los que usan de este mundo, como los que no usan: porque la apariencia de este mundo se pasa.

32 But it is my desire for you to be free from cares. The unmarried man gives his mind to the things of the Lord, how he may give pleasure to the Lord:
32 Or, je voudrais que vous fussiez sans inquiétude. Celui qui n'est pas marié s'inquiète des choses du Seigneur, des moyens de plaire au Seigneur;
32 Is amhlaidh ba mhaith liom sibh a bheith saor ó imní. Bíonn an fear singil buartha faoi ghnóthaí an Tiarna ag iarraidh an Tiarna a shásamh;
32 Quisiera, pues, que estuvieseis sin congoja. El soltero tiene cuidado de las cosas que son del Señor, cómo ha de agradar al Señor:
32 Ich wollte aber, daß ihr ohne Sorge wäret. Wer ledig ist, der sorgt, was dem HERRN angehört, wie er dem HERRN gefalle;
33 But the married man gives his attention to the things of this world, how he may give pleasure to his wife.
33 et celui qui est marié s'inquiète des choses du monde, des moyens de plaire à sa femme.

33 Empero el que se casó tiene cuidado de las cosas que son del mundo, cómo ha de agradar á su mujer.
33 wer aber freit, der sorgt, was der Welt angehört, wie er dem Weibe gefalle. Es ist ein Unterschied zwischen einem Weibe und einer Jungfrau:
34 And the wife is not the same as the virgin. The virgin gives her mind to the things of the Lord, so that she may be holy in body and in spirit: but the married woman takes thought for the things of the world, how she may give pleasure to her husband.
34 Il y a de même une différence entre la femme et la vierge: celle qui n'est pas mariée s'inquiète des choses du Seigneur, afin d'être sainte de corps et d'esprit; et celle qui est mariée s'inquiète des choses du monde, des moyens de plaire à son mari.
34 Ar an gcuma chéanna bíonn an bhean singil nó an cailin óg buartha faoi chúrsaí an Tiarna d'fhonn a bheith naofa idir chorp agus anam; ach bíonn an bhean phósta buartha faoi chúrsaí an tsaoil ag iarraidh a fear a shásamh.
34 Hay asimismo diferencia entre la casada y la doncella: la doncella tiene cuidado de las cosas del Señor, para ser santa así en el cuerpo como en el espíritu: mas la casada tiene cuidado de las cosas del mundo, cómo ha de agradar á su marido.
34 welche nicht freit, die sorgt, was dem HERRN angehört, daß sie heilig sei am Leib und auch am Geist; die aber freit, die sorgt, was der Welt angehört, wie sie dem Manne gefalle.
35 Now I say this for your profit; not to make things hard for you, but because of what is right, and so that you may be able to give all your attention to the things of the Lord.
35 Je dis cela dans votre intérêt; ce n'est pas pour vous prendre au piège, c'est pour vous porter à ce qui est bienséant et propre à vous attacher au Seigneur sans distraction.
35 Is ar mhaithe libh a deirim an méid seo, agus ní ag iarraidh laincis a chur oraibh atáim, ach le go mbeadh gach ní ina cheart, agus go bhfónfadh sibh don Tiarna gan cur isteach ná amach oraibh.
35 Esto empero digo para vuestro provecho; no para echaros lazo, sino para lo honesto y decente, y para que sin impedimento os lleguéis al Señor.
35 Solches aber sage ich zu eurem Nutzen; nicht, daß ich euch einen Strick um den Hals werfe, sondern dazu, daß es fein zugehe und ihr stets ungehindert dem HERRN dienen könntet.
36 But if, in any man's opinion, he is not doing what is right for his virgin, if she is past her best years, and there is need for it, let him do what seems right to him; it is no sin; let them be married.
