1 In the third year of the rule of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem, shutting it in with his forces.
1 La troisième année du règne de Jojakim, roi de Juda, Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, marcha contre Jérusalem, et l'assiégea.
1 Sa tríú bliain de réimeas Iahóiácaím, rí Iúdá, tháinig Nabúcadnazar, rí na Bablóine, go Iarúsailéim agus chuir léigear air.
1 EN el año tercero del reinado de Joacim rey de Judá, vino Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia á Jerusalem, y cercóla.
1 Im dritten Jahr des Reiches Jojakims, des Königs in Juda, kam Nebukadnezar, der König zu Babel, vor Jerusalem und belagerte es.
2 And the Lord gave into his hands Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with some of the vessels of the house of God; and he took them away into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he put the vessels into the store-house of his god.
2 Le Seigneur livra entre ses mains Jojakim, roi de Juda, et une partie des ustensiles de la maison de Dieu. Nebucadnetsar emporta les ustensiles au pays de Schinear, dans la maison de son dieu, il les mit dans la maison du trésor de son dieu.
2 Thug an Tiarna Iahóiácaím, rí Iúdá, ar láimh dó agus cuid de shoithí theach Dé chomh maith; agus thug sé leis go Sionár iad seo, go teach a dhé féin, agus chuir sé na soithí i dtaisce a dhéithe féin.
2 Y el Señor entregó en sus manos á Joacim rey de Judá, y parte de los vasos de la casa de Dios, y trájolos á tierra de Sinar, á la casa de su dios: y metió los vasos en la casa del tesoro de su dios.
2 Und der HERR übergab ihm Jojakim, den König Juda's, und etliche Gefäße aus dem Hause Gottes; die ließ er führen ins Land Sinear in seines Gottes Haus und tat die Gefäße in seines Gottes Schatzkammer.
3 And the king gave orders to Ashpenaz, the captain of his unsexed servants, to take in some of the children of Israel, certain of the king's family, and those of high birth;
3 Le roi donna l'ordre à Aschpenaz, chef de ses eunuques, d'amener quelques-uns des enfants d'Israël de race royale ou de famille noble,
3 D'ordaigh an rí ansin do mháistir a choillteán, Aispeanaz, cuid de mhuintir Iosrael a thoghadh, de chlann an rí agus de na teaghlaigh uaisle,
3 Y dijo el rey á Aspenaz, príncipe de sus eunucos, que trajese de los hijos de Israel, del linaje real de los príncipes,
3 Und der König sprach zu Aspenas, seinem obersten Kämmerer, er sollte aus den Kindern Israel vom königlichen Stamm und Herrenkinder wählen
4 Young men who were strong and healthy, good-looking, and trained in all wisdom, having a good education and much knowledge, and able to take positions in the king's house; and to have them trained in the writing and language of the Chaldaeans.
4 de jeunes garçons sans défaut corporel, beaux de figure, doués de sagesse, d'intelligence et d'instruction, capables de servir dans le palais du roi, et à qui l'on enseignerait les lettres et la langue des Chaldéens.
4 ógáin gan ainimh, álainn ina scéimh agus oilte i ngach dán, le bua eagna agus le tuiscint ar léann, agus é ar a gcumas fónamh i bpálás an rí; agus teanga na gCaildéach a mhúineadh dóibh seo.
4 Muchachos en quienes no hubiese tacha alguna, y de buen parecer, y enseñados en toda sabiduría, y sabios en ciencia, y de buen entendimiento, é idóneos para estar en el palacio del rey; y que les enseñase las letras y la lengua de los Caldeos.
4 Knaben, die nicht gebrechlich wären, sondern schöne, vernünftige, weise, kluge und verständige, die da geschickt wären, zu dienen an des Königs Hofe und zu lernen chaldäische Schrift und Sprache.
5 And a regular amount of food and wine every day from the king's table was ordered for them by the king; and they were to be cared for for three years so that at the end of that time they might take their places before the king.
5 Le roi leur assigna pour chaque jour une portion des mets de sa table et du vin dont il buvait, voulant les élever pendant trois années, au bout desquelles ils seraient au service du roi.
5 Dháil an rí orthu lón gach lae den bhia blasta ó bhord an rí agus den fhíon a d'óladh sé féin. Bhí siad le hoiliúint ar feadh trí bliana, agus, i gceann na haimsire sin, le freastal ar an rí.
5 Y señalóles el rey ración para cada día de la ración de la comida del rey, y del vino de su beber: que los criase tres años, para que al fin de ellos estuviesen delante del rey.
5 Solchen bestimmte der König, was man ihnen täglich geben sollte von seiner Speise und vom Wein, den er selbst trank, daß sie also drei Jahre auferzogen würden und darnach dem König dienen sollten.
6 And among these there were, of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.
6 Il y avait parmi eux, d'entre les enfants de Juda, Daniel, Hanania, Mischaël et Azaria.
6 Ina measc seo bhí Dainéil, Hanainias, Míséil, agus Azairiá de threibh Iúdá.
6 Y fueron entre ellos, de los hijos de Judá, Daniel, Ananías, Misael y Azarías:
6 Unter diesen war Daniel, Hananja, Misael und Asarja von den Kindern Juda.
7 And the captain of the unsexed servants gave them names; to Daniel he gave the name of Belteshazzar, to Hananiah the name of Shadrach, to Mishael the name of Meshach, and to Azariah the name of Abed-nego.
7 Le chef des eunuques leur donna des noms, à Daniel celui de Beltschatsar, à Hanania celui de Schadrac, à Mischaël celui de Méschac, et à Azaria celui d'Abed Nego.
7 Thug máistir na gcoillteán ainmneacha orthu: ar Dhainéil thug sé Béiltiseazar, ar Hanainiá Seadrac, ar Mhíséil Méiseac, ar Azairiá Aibéid Neagó.
7 A los cuales el príncipe de los eunucos puso nombres: y puso á Daniel, Beltsasar; y á Ananías, Sadrach; y á Misael, Mesach; y á Azarías, Abed-nego.
7 Und der oberste Kämmerer gab ihnen Namen und nannte Daniel Beltsazar und Hananja Sadrach und Misael Mesach und Asarja Abed-Nego.
8 And Daniel had come to the decision that he would not make himself unclean with the king's food or wine; so he made a request to the captain of the unsexed servants that he might not make himself unclean.
8 Daniel résolut de ne pas se souiller par les mets du roi et par le vin dont le roi buvait, et il pria le chef des eunuques de ne pas l'obliger à se souiller.
8 Ach bheartaigh Dainéil nach dtruailleodh sé é féin le bia blasta an rí ná leis an bhfíon a bhí á ól aige; d'iarr sé, uime sin, ar mháistir na gcoillteán a cheadú dó nach dtruailleodh sé é féin.
8 Y Daniel propuso en su corazón de no contaminarse en la ración de la comida del rey, ni en el vino de su beber: pidió por tanto al príncipe de los eunucos de no contaminarse.
8 Aber Daniel setzte sich vor in seinem Herzen, daß er sich mit des Königs Speise und mit dem Wein, den er selbst trank, nicht verunreinigen wollte, und bat den obersten Kämmerer, daß er sich nicht müßte verunreinigen.
9 And God put into the heart of the captain of the unsexed servants kind feelings and pity for Daniel.
9 Dieu fit trouver à Daniel faveur et grâce devant le chef des eunuques.
9 Thug Dia do Dhainéil bua fabhair agus cineáltais ó mháistir na gcoillteán.
9 (Y puso Dios á Daniel en gracia y en buena voluntad con el príncipe de los eunucos.)
9 Und Gott gab Daniel, daß ihm der oberste Kämmerer günstig und gnädig ward.
10 And the captain of the unsexed servants said to Daniel, I am in fear of my lord the king, who has given orders about your food and your drink; what if he sees you looking less happy than the other young men of your generation? then you would have put my head in danger from the king.
10 Le chef des eunuques dit à Daniel: Je crains mon seigneur le roi, qui a fixé ce que vous devez manger et boire; car pourquoi verrait-il votre visage plus abattu que celui des jeunes gens de votre âge? Vous exposeriez ma tête auprès du roi.
10 Dúirt máistir na gcoillteán le Dainéil: “Is eagal liom an rí a shocraigh bia agus deoch daoibh mar go bhfeicfeadh sé go mbeadh sibh i gcló níos measa ná na hógáin comhaois daoibh. Ba bhaol do mo cheann an rí agaibh.”
10 Y dijo el príncipe de los eunucos á Daniel: Tengo temor de mi señor el rey, que señaló vuestra comida y vuestra bebida; pues luego que él habrá visto vuestros rostros más tristes que los de los muchachos que son semejantes á vosotros, condenaréis para con el rey mi cabeza.
10 Derselbe sprach zu ihm: Ich fürchte mich vor meinem Herrn, dem König, der euch eure Speise und Trank bestimmt hat; wo er würde sehen, daß eure Angesichter jämmerlicher wären denn der andern Knaben eures Alters, so brächtet ihr mich bei dem König um mein Leben.
11 Then Daniel said to the keeper in whose care the captain of the unsexed servants had put Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
11 Alors Daniel dit à l'intendant à qui le chef des eunuques avait remis la surveillance de Daniel, de Hanania, de Mischaël et d'Azaria:
11 Labhair Dainéil leis an stíobhard a chuir máistir na gcoillteán i bhfeighil Dhainéil, Haniainiá, Mhíséil agus Azairiá:
11 Entonces dijo Daniel á Melsar, que estaba puesto por el príncipe de los eunucos sobre Daniel, Ananías, Misael, y Azarías:
11 Da sprach Daniel zu dem Aufseher, welchem der oberste Kämmerer Daniel, Hananja, Misael und Asarja befohlen hatte:
12 Put your servants to the test for ten days; let them give us grain for our food and water for our drink.
12 Éprouve tes serviteurs pendant dix jours, et qu'on nous donne des légumes à manger et de l'eau à boire;
12 “Promhaigh do shearbhóntaí ar feadh deich lá, impím ort; tugtar glasraí mar bhia dúinn agus uisce le hól.
12 Prueba, te ruego, tus siervos diez días, y dennos legumbres á comer, y agua á beber.
12 Versuche es doch mit deinen Knechten zehn Tage und laß uns geben Gemüse zu essen und Wasser zu trinken.
13 Then take a look at our faces and the faces of the young men who have food from the king's table; and, having seen them, do to your servants as it seems right to you.
13 tu regarderas ensuite notre visage et celui des jeunes gens qui mangent les mets du roi, et tu agiras avec tes serviteurs d'après ce que tu auras vu.
13 Déan ár gceannaithe agus ceannaithe na n‑ógán a itheann bia blasta an rí a iniúchadh, agus déan le do sheirbhísigh beart de réir mar a fheicfidh tú.”
13 Parezcan luego delante de ti nuestros rostros, y los rostros de los muchachos que comen de la ración de la comida del rey; y según que vieres, harás con tus siervos.
13 Und laß dann vor dir unsre Gestalt und der Knaben, so von des Königs Speise essen, besehen; und darnach du sehen wirst, darnach schaffe mit deinen Knechten.
14 So he gave ear to them in this thing and put them to the test for ten days.
14 Il leur accorda ce qu'ils demandaient, et les éprouva pendant dix jours.
14 Ghéill sé dóibh sa ghnó seo agus phromhaigh sé iad ar feadh deich lá.
14 Consintió pues con ellos en esto, y probó con ellos diez días.
14 Und er gehorchte ihnen darin und versuchte es mit ihnen zehn Tage.
15 And at the end of ten days their faces seemed fairer and they were fatter in flesh than all the young men who had their food from the king's table.
15 Au bout de dix jours, ils avaient meilleur visage et plus d'embonpoint que tous les jeunes gens qui mangeaient les mets du roi.
15 I gceann an deich lá chonacthas gurbh fhearr a ndealramh, agus gur mhó an cothú feola a bhí orthu, ná ar na hogáin uile a d'ith bia blasta an rí.
15 Y al cabo de los diez días pareció el rostro de ellos mejor y más nutrido de carne, que los otros muchachos que comían de la ración de comida del rey.
15 Und nach den zehn Tagen waren sie schöner und besser bei Leibe denn alle Knaben, so von des Königs Speise aßen.
16 So the keeper regularly took away their meat and the wine which was to have been their drink, and gave them grain.
16 L'intendant emportait les mets et le vin qui leur étaient destinés, et il leur donnait des légumes.
16 Thóg an stíobhard uathu dá bhrí sin a mbia blasta agus an fíon a bhí le hól acu agus dháil orthu na glasraí.
16 Así fué que Melsar tomaba la ración de la comida de ellos, y el vino de su beber, y dábales legumbres.
16 Da tat der Aufseher ihre verordnete Speise und Trank weg und gab ihnen Gemüse.
17 Now as for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and made them expert in all book-learning and wisdom: and Daniel was wise in all visions and dreams.
17 Dieu accorda à ces quatre jeunes gens de la science, de l'intelligence dans toutes les lettres, et de la sagesse; et Daniel expliquait toutes les visions et tous les songes.
17 Dála an cheathrar ógánach seo, bhronn Dia orthu eolas agus clisteacht san uile fhoghlaim agus eagna; agus bhí tuiscint ag Dainéil ar fhíseanna agus ar aislingí de gach sort.
17 Y á estos cuatro muchachos dióles Dios conocimiento é inteligencia en todas letras y ciencia: mas Daniel tuvo entendimiento en toda visión y sueños.
17 Aber diesen vier Knaben gab Gott Kunst und Verstand in allerlei Schrift und Weisheit; Daniel aber gab er Verstand in allen Gesichten und Träumen.
18 Now at the end of the time fixed by the king for them to go in, the captain of the unsexed servants took them in to Nebuchadnezzar.
18 Au terme fixé par le roi pour qu'on les lui amenât, le chef des eunuques les présenta à Nebucadnetsar.
18 Nuair a tháinig an t‑am a d'ordaigh an rí iad a thabhairt ina láthair, thug máistir na gcoillteán isteach os comhair Nabúcadnazar iad.
18 Pasados pues los días al fin de los cuales había dicho el rey que los trajesen, el príncipe de los eunucos los trajo delante de Nabucodonosor.
18 Und da die Zeit um war, die der König bestimmt hatte, daß sie sollten hineingebracht werden, brachte sie der oberste Kämmerer hinein vor Nebukadnezar.
19 And the king had talk with them; and among them all there was no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; so they were given places before the king.
19 Le roi s'entretint avec eux; et, parmi tous ces jeunes gens, il ne s'en trouva aucun comme Daniel, Hanania, Mischaël et Azaria. Ils furent donc admis au service du roi.
19 Labhair an rí leo, agus ina measc uile ní bhfuarthas neach mar Dhainéil, Hanainiá, Míséil agus Azairiá. Uime sin d'fhóin siad don rí.
19 Y el rey habló con ellos, y no fué hallado entre todos ellos otro como Daniel, Ananías, Misael, y Azarías: y así estuvieron delante del rey.
19 Und der König redete mit ihnen, und ward unter allen niemand gefunden, der Daniel, Hananja, Misael und Asarja gleich wäre; und sie wurden des Königs Diener.
20 And in any business needing wisdom and good sense, about which the king put questions to them, he saw that they were ten times better than all the wonder-workers and users of secret arts in all his kingdom.
20 Sur tous les objets qui réclamaient de la sagesse et de l'intelligence, et sur lesquels le roi les interrogeait, il les trouvait dix fois supérieurs à tous les magiciens et astrologues qui étaient dans tout son royaume.

20 Y en todo negocio de sabiduría é inteligencia que el rey les demandó, hallólos diez veces mejores que todos los magos y astrólogos que había en todo su reino.
20 Und der König fand sie in allen Sachen, die er sie fragte zehnmal klüger und verständiger denn alle Sternseher und Weisen in seinem ganzen Reich.
21 And Daniel went on till the first year of King Cyrus.
21 Ainsi fut Daniel jusqu'à la première année du roi Cyrus.
