1 And it came about in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah that Sennacherib, king of Assyria, came up against all the walled towns of Judah and took them.

1 ACONTECIO en el año catorce del rey Ezechîas, que Sennachêrib rey de Asiria subió contra todas las ciudades fuertes de Judá, y tomólas.
1 Und es begab sich im vierzehnten Jahr des Königs Hiskia, zog der König von Assyrien, Sanherib, herauf wider alle festen Städte Juda's und gewann sie.
2 And the king of Assyria sent the Rab-shakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to King Hezekiah with a strong force, and he took up his position by the stream of the higher pool, by the highway of the washerman's
2 Et le roi d'Assyrie envoya de Lakis à Jérusalem, vers le roi Ézéchias, Rabschaké avec une puissante armée. Rabschaké s'arrêta à l'aqueduc de l'étang supérieur, sur le chemin du champ du foulon.
2 Ó Láicis chuir rí na hAsaíre an tArdoifigeach mar aon le slua mór saighdiúirí ag triall ar Hiziciá rí in Iarúsailéim. Thóg siad ionad in aice le sileán na Linne Uachtair ar an mbóthar go Gort an Úcaire.
2 Y el rey de Asiria envió á Rabsaces con grande ejército desde Lachîs á Jerusalem al rey Ezechîas: y asentó el campo á los caños de la pesquera de arriba, en el camino de la heredad del Lavador.
2 Und der König von Assyrien sandte den Erzschenken von Lachis gen Jerusalem zu dem König Hiskia mit großer Macht. Und er trat an die Wasserleitung des oberen Teichs, am Wege bei dem Acker des Walkmüllers.
3 And there came out to him Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, who was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder.
3 Alors Éliakim, fils de Hilkija, chef de la maison du roi, se rendit auprès de lui, avec Schebna, le secrétaire, et Joach, fils d'Asaph, l'archiviste.
3 Chuaigh reachtaire an pháláis Eiliácaím mac Hilcíá, Seabná an rúnaí, agus Ióách mac Ásáf an callaire, chuaigh siad amach ina airicis.
3 Y salió á él Eliacim hijo de Hilcías mayordomo, y Sebna, escriba, y Joah hijo de Asaph, canciller.
3 Und es ging zu ihm heraus Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias, der Hofmeister, und Sebna, der Schreiber, und Joah, der Sohn Asaphs, der Kanzler.
4 And the Rab-shakeh said to them, Say now to Hezekiah, These are the words of the great king, the king of Assyria: In what are you placing your hope?
4 Rabschaké leur dit: Dites à Ézéchias: Ainsi parle le grand roi, le roi d'Assyrie: Quelle est cette confiance, sur laquelle tu t'appuies?
4 Dúirt an tArdoifigeach leo: “Abraigí le Hiziciá gurb í seo teachtaireacht an rí mhóir, rí na hAsaíre: Cad is bun leis an muinín seo agat?
4 A los cuales dijo Rabsaces: Ahora pues, diréis á Ezechîas: El gran rey, el rey de Asiria, dice así: ¿Qué confianza es ésta en que confías?
4 Und der Erzschenke sprach zu ihnen: Sagt doch dem Hiskia: So spricht der große König, der König von Assyrien: Was ist das für ein Trotz, darauf du dich verlässest?
5 You say you have a design and strength for war, but these are only words: now to whom are you looking for support, that you have gone against my authority?
5 Je te le dis, ce ne sont que des paroles en l'air: il faut pour la guerre de la prudence et de la force. En qui donc as-tu placé ta confiance, pour t'être révolté contre moi?
5 An dóigh leat gur fiú focail bhaotha comhairle agus laochas chun cogaidh? Cé air a bhfuil tú ag brath anois gur éirigh tú amach i m'éadan?
5 Digo, alegas tú, (empero palabras vanas) que tengo consejo y fortaleza para la guerra. Ahora bien, ¿en quién confías que te rebelas contra mí?
5 Ich achte, du lässest dich bereden, daß du noch Rat und Macht weißt, zu streiten. Auf wen verläßt du dich denn, daß du mir bist abfällig geworden?
6 See, you are basing your hope on that broken rod of Egypt, which will go into a man's hand if he makes use of it for a support; for so is Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to all who put their faith in him.
6 Voici, tu l'as placée dans l'Égypte, tu as pris pour soutien ce roseau cassé, qui pénètre et perce la main de quiconque s'appuie dessus: tel est Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, pour tous ceux qui se confient en lui.
6 Ar an Éigipt? Más ea, tá tú ag brath ar shifín briste nach ndéanann ach lámh aon duine atá ag baint taca as a tholladh is a threaghdadh. Mar sin atá ag Forann, rí na hÉigipte, le daoine a chuireann a muinín ann.
6 He aquí que confías en este bordón de caña frágil, en Egipto, sobre el cual si alguien se apoyare, entrarásele por la mano, y se la atravesará. Tal es Faraón rey de Egipto para con todos los que en él confían.
6 Verläßt du dich auf den zerbrochenen Rohrstab Ägypten, welcher, so jemand sich darauf lehnt, geht er ihm in die Hand und durchbohrt sie? Also tut Pharao, der König von Ägypten, allen, die sich auf ihn verlassen.
7 And if you say to me, Our hope is in the Lord our God; is it not he whose high places and altars Hezekiah has taken away, saying to Judah and Jerusalem that worship may only be given before this altar?
7 Peut-être me diras-tu: C'est en l'Éternel, notre Dieu, que nous nous confions. Mais n'est-ce pas lui dont Ézéchias a fait disparaître les hauts lieux et les autels, en disant à Juda et à Jérusalem: Vous vous prosternerez devant cet autel?
7 Déarfaidh sibh liom, b'fhéidir: ‘Is sa Tiarna ár nDia atá ar muinín,’ ach nár leis siúd na hardáin bheannaithe agus na haltóirí a thóg Hiziciá chun siúil, á rá le muintir Iúdá agus Iarúsailéim: ‘Is os comhair na haltóra seo amháin a sléachtfaidh sibh.’
7 Y si me dijeres, En Jehová nuestro Dios confiamos; ¿no es éste aquel cuyos altos y cuyos altares hizo quitar Ezechîas, y dijo á Judá y á Jerusalem: Delante de este altar adoraréis?
7 Willst du mir aber sagen: Wir verlassen uns auf den HERRN, unsern Gott! ist's nicht der, dessen Höhen und Altäre Hiskia hat abgetan und hat zu Juda und Jerusalem gesagt: Vor diesem Altar sollt ihr anbeten?
8 And now, take a chance with my master, the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able to put horsemen on them.
8 Maintenant, fais une convention avec mon maître, le roi d'Assyrie, et je te donnerai deux mille chevaux, si tu peux fournir des cavaliers pour les monter.

8 Wohlan, so nimm's an mit meinem Herrn, dem König von Assyrien: ich will dir zweitausend Rosse geben; laß sehen, ob du bei dir könntest ausrichten, die darauf reiten.
9 How then may you put to shame the least of my master's servants? and you have put your hope in Egypt for war-carriages and horsemen:
9 Comment repousserais-tu un seul chef d'entre les moindres serviteurs de mon maître? Tu mets ta confiance dans l'Égypte pour les chars et pour les cavaliers.
9 An gcuirfidh tú suas fiú don duine is lú de shearbhóntaí mo thiarna, agus tú ag brath ar an Éigipt le haghaidh carbad agus marcach?
9 ¿Cómo pues harás volver el rostro de un capitán de los más pequeños siervos de mi señor, aunque estés confiado en Egipto por sus carros y hombres de á caballo?
9 Wie willst du denn bleiben vor einem Hauptmann, der geringsten Diener einem meines Herrn? Und du verlässest dich auf Ägypten um der Wagen und Reiter willen.
10 And have I now come to send destruction on this land without the Lord's authority? It was the Lord himself who said to me, Go up against this land and make it waste.
10 D'ailleurs, est-ce sans la volonté de l'Éternel que je suis monté contre ce pays pour le détruire? L'Éternel m'a dit: Monte contre ce pays, et détruis-le.
10 Rud eile fós, an dóigh leat gur gan fhios agus ar neamhchead don Tiarna atá mé i ndiaidh a theacht chun an tír seo a ionsaí agus a scrios? Ní amhlaidh; ach an Tiarna féin a dúirt liom: ‘Gabh suas i gcoinne na tíre sin agus scrios í!’ ”
10 ¿Y por ventura vine yo ahora á esta tierra para destruirla sin Jehová Jehová me dijo: Sube á esta tierra para destruirla?
10 Dazu, meinst du, daß ich ohne den HERRN bin heraufgezogen in dies Land, es zu verderben? Ja, der HERR sprach zu mir: Zieh hinauf in dies Land und verderbe es!
11 Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to the Rab-shakeh, Please make use of the Aramaean language in talking to your servants, for we are used to it, and do not make use of the Jews' language in the hearing of the people on the wall.
11 Éliakim, Schebna et Joach dirent à Rabschaké: Parle à tes serviteurs en araméen, car nous le comprenons; et ne nous parle pas en langue judaïque aux oreilles du peuple qui est sur la muraille.
11 Dúirt Eiliácaím, Seabná agus Ióách leis an Ardoifigeach: “Má is é do thoil é, labhair linn do sheirbhísigh in Aramais, óir tuigimid í; ná labhair linn in Eabhrais in éisteacht an phobail atá ar na ballaí.”
11 Entonces dijo Eliacim, y Sebna y Joah á Rabsaces: Rogámoste que hables á tus siervos en lengua siriaca, porque nosotros la entendemos: y no hables con nosotros en lengua judáica, oyéndolo el pueblo que está sobre el muro.
11 Aber Eljakim und Sebna und Joah sprachen zum Erzschenken: Rede doch mit deinen Knechten auf syrisch, denn wir verstehen es wohl, und rede nicht auf jüdisch mit uns vor den Ohren des Volkes, das auf der Mauer ist.
12 But the Rab-shakeh said, Is it to your master or to you that my master has sent me to say these words? has he not sent me to the men seated on the wall? for they are the people who will be short of food with you when the town is shut in.
12 Rabschaké répondit: Est-ce à ton maître et à toi que mon maître m'a envoyé dire ces paroles? N'est-ce pas à ces hommes assis sur la muraille pour manger leurs excréments et pour boire leur urine avec vous?
12 Ach dúirt an tArdoifigeach leo: “An le do thiarna agus leatsa a chuir mo thiarnasa uaidh mé le seo á rá? Ní hea, ach leis na daoine seo atá ina suí ar na ballaí agus gur dual dóibh a gcac féin a ithe agus a mún féin a ól bhur ndála féin?”
12 Y dijo Rabsaces: ¿Envióme mi señor á ti y á tu señor, á que dijese estas palabras, y no á los hombres que están sobre el muro, para comer su estiércol y beber su orina con vosotros?
12 Da sprach der Erzschenke: Meinst du, daß mein Herr mich zu deinem Herrn oder zu dir gesandt habe, solche Worte zu reden, und nicht vielmehr zu den Männern, die auf der Mauer sitzen, daß sie samt euch ihren eigenen Mist fressen und ihren Harn saufen?
13 Then the Rab-shakeh got up and said with a loud voice in the Jews' language, Give ear to the words of the great king, the king of Assyria:
13 Puis Rabschaké s'avança et cria de toute sa force en langue judaïque: Écoutez les paroles du grand roi, du roi d'Assyrie!
13 Ansin d'éirigh sé ina sheasamh agus scairt sé amach in ard a chinn in Eabhrais: “Éistigí le teachtaireacht an rí mhóir, rí na hAsaíre!
13 Púsose luego en pie Rabsaces, y gritó á grande voz en lengua judáica, diciendo: Oid las palabras del gran rey, el rey de Asiria.
13 Und der Erzschenke stand und rief laut auf jüdisch und sprach: Höret die Worte des großen Königs, des Königs von Assyrien!
14 This is what the king says: Do not be tricked by Hezekiah, for there is no salvation for you in him.
14 Ainsi parle le roi: Qu'Ézéchias ne vous abuse point, car il ne pourra vous délivrer.
14 Seo iad focail an rí: Ná cuireadh Hiziciá an dallamullóg oraibh! Ní bheidh sé in ann sibh a shábháil.
14 El rey dice así: No os engañe Ezechîas, porque no os podrá librar.
14 So spricht der König: Laßt euch Hiskia nicht betrügen; denn er kann euch nicht erretten.
15 And do not let Hezekiah make you put your faith in the Lord, saying, The Lord will certainly keep us safe, and this town will not be given into the hands of the king of Assyria.
15 Qu'Ézéchias ne vous amène point à vous confier en l'Éternel, en disant: L'Éternel nous délivrera, cette ville ne sera pas livrée entre les mains du roi d'Assyrie.
15 Ná bíodh muinín agaibh as an Tiarna ar chomhairle Hiziciá, agus é á rá: Tiocfaidh an Tiarna ár dtarrtháil cinnte, ní ghéillfear an chathair seo suas do rí na hAsaíre.
15 Ni os haga Ezechîas confiar en Jehová, diciendo: Ciertamente Jehová nos librará: no será entregada esta ciudad en manos del rey de Asiria.
15 Und laß euch Hiskia nicht vertrösten auf den HERRN, daß er sagt: Der HERR wird uns erretten, und diese Stadt wird nicht in die Hand des Königs von Assyrien gegeben werden.
16 Do not give ear to Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says, Make peace with me, and come out to me; and everyone will be free to take the fruit of his vine and of his fig-tree, and the water of his spring;
16 N'écoutez point Ézéchias; car ainsi parle le roi d'Assyrie: Faites la paix avec moi, rendez-vous à moi, et chacun de vous mangera de sa vigne et de son figuier, et chacun boira de l'eau de sa citerne,
16 Ná héistigí le Hiziciá, óir seo iad focail rí na hAsaíre: Déanaigí síocháin liomsa,
16 No escuchéis á Ezechîas: porque el rey de Asiria dice así: Haced conmigo paz, y salid á mí; y coma cada uno de su viña, y cada uno de su higuera, y beba cada cual las aguas de su pozo;
16 Gehorchet Hiskia nicht! Denn so spricht der König von Assyrien: Tut mir zu Dank und geht zu mir heraus, so sollt ihr ein jeglicher von seinem Feigenbaum essen und aus seinem Brunnen trinken,
17 Till I come and take you away to a land like yours, a land of grain and wine, a land of bread and vine-gardens.
17 jusqu'à ce que je vienne, et que je vous emmène dans un pays comme le vôtre, dans un pays de blé et de vin, un pays de pain et de vignes.
17 géilligí domsa agus beidh gach duine agaibh ag ithe toradh a fhíniúna féin agus a chrann figí féin, agus ag ól uisce a umair féin, go dtí go dtaga mise chun sibh a thabhairt go tír cosúil le bhur dtír féin, tír gráin agus fíona, tír aráin agus fíonghort.
17 Hasta que yo venga y os lleve á una tierra como la vuestra, tierra de grano y de vino, tierra de pan y de viñas.
17 bis daß ich komme und hole euch in ein Land, wie euer Land ist, ein Land, darin Korn und Most ist, ein Land, darin Brot und Weinberge sind.
18 Give no attention to Hezekiah when he says to you, The Lord will keep us safe. Has any one of the gods of the nations kept his land from falling into the hands of the king of Assyria?
18 Qu'Ézéchias ne vous séduise point, en disant: L'Éternel nous délivrera. Les dieux des nations ont-ils délivré chacun son pays de la main du roi d'Assyrie?
18 Ná cuireadh Hiziciá amú sibh, á rá: ‘Sábhálfaidh an Tiarna sibh.’ An bhfuil dia ar bith de dhéithe na náisiún a bhí in ann a thír a shábháil ar rí na hAsaíre?
18 Mirad no os engañe Ezechîas diciendo: Jehová nos librará. ¿Libraron los dioses de las gentes cada uno á su tierra de la mano del rey de Asiria?
18 Laßt euch Hiskia nicht bereden, daß er sagt: Der HERR wird uns erlösen. Haben auch der Heiden Götter ein jeglicher sein Land errettet von der Hand des Königs von Assyrien?
19 Where are the gods of Hamath and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? where are the gods of Samaria? and have they kept Samaria out of my hand?
19 Où sont les dieux de Hamath et d'Arpad? Où sont les dieux de Sepharvaïm? Ont-ils délivré Samarie de ma main?
19 Cá bhfuil déithe Hamát agus Arpád? Cá bhfuil déithe Shafaravaím? Cá bhfuil déithe thír na Samáire? Ar shábháil siad an tSamáir orm?
19 ¿Dónde está el dios de Hamath y de Arphad? ¿dónde está el dios de Sepharvaim? ¿libraron á Samaria de mi mano?
19 Wo sind die Götter zu Hamath und Arpad? Wo sind die Götter Sepharvaims? Haben sie auch Samaria errettet von meiner Hand?
20 Who among all the gods of these countries have kept their country from falling into my hand, to give cause for the thought that the Lord will keep Jerusalem from falling into my hand?
20 Parmi tous les dieux de ces pays, quels sont ceux qui ont délivré leur pays de ma main, pour que l'Éternel délivre Jérusalem de ma main?
20 De dhéithe na dtíortha uile, cé acu a shábháil a dtír orm? Agus cén chaoi a bhfuil an Tiarna le Iarúsailéim a shábháil?”
20 ¿Qué dios hay entre los dioses de estas tierras, que haya librado su tierra de mi mano, para que Jehová libre de mi mano á Jerusalem?
20 Welcher unter allen Göttern dieser Lande hat sein Land errettet von meiner Hand, daß der HERR sollte Jerusalem erretten von meiner Hand?
21 But they kept quiet and gave him no answer: for the king's order was, Give him no answer.
21 Mais ils se turent, et ne lui répondirent pas un mot; car le roi avait donné cet ordre: Vous ne lui répondrez pas.
21 D'fhan na daoine ina dtost gan focal astu, óir ba é a d'ordaigh an rí dóibh: “Ná tugaigí freagra air.”
21 Mas callaron, y no le respondieron palabra; porque el rey así lo había mandado, diciendo: No le respondáis.
21 Sie schwiegen aber still und antworteten ihm nichts; denn der König hatte geboten und gesagt: Antwortet ihm nichts.
22 Then Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, who was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothing parted as a sign of grief, and gave him an account of what the Rab-shakeh had said.
22 Et Éliakim, fils de Hilkija, chef de la maison du roi, Schebna, le secrétaire, et Joach, fils d'Asaph, l'archiviste, vinrent auprès d'Ézéchias, les vêtements déchirés, et lui rapportèrent les paroles de Rabschaké.
22 Tháinig reachtaire an pháláis Eiliácaím mac Hilcíá, Seabná an rúnaí agus Ióách mac Ásáf an callaire, tháinig siad ar ais i láthair Hiziciá agus a gcuid éadaigh stróicthe acu, agus d'inis dó ar dhúirt an tArdoifigeach.
22 Entonces Eliacim hijo de Hilcías mayordormo, y Sebna escriba, y Joah hijo de Asaph canciller, vinieron á Ezechîas rotos sus vestidos, y contáronle las palabras de Rabsaces.
22 Da kamen Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias, der Hofmeister, und Sebna, der Schreiber, und Joah, der Sohn Asaphs, der Kanzler, mit zerrissenen Kleidern zu Hiskia und zeigten ihm an die Worte des Erzschenken.
