1 Now while Ezra was making his prayer and his statement of wrongdoing, weeping and falling down before the house of God, a very great number of men and women and children out of Israel came together round him: for the people were weeping bitterly.
1 Pendant qu'Esdras, pleurant et prosterné devant la maison de Dieu, faisait cette prière et cette confession, il s'était rassemblé auprès de lui une foule très nombreuse de gens d'Israël, hommes, femmes et enfants, et le peuple répandait d'abondantes larmes.

1 Y Orando Esdras y confesando, llorando y postrándose delante de la casa de Dios, juntóse á él una muy grande multitud de Israel, hombres y mujeres y niños; y lloraba el pueblo con gran llanto.
1 Und da Esra also betete und bekannte, weinte und vor dem Hause Gottes lag, sammelten sich zu ihm aus Israel eine sehr große Gemeinde von Männern und Weibern und Kindern; denn das Volk weinte sehr.
2 And Shecaniah, the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answering, said to Ezra, We have done evil against our God, and have taken as our wives strange women of the peoples of the land: but still there is hope for Israel in this question.
2 Alors Schecania, fils de Jehiel, d'entre les fils d'Élam, prit la parole et dit à Esdras: Nous avons péché contre notre Dieu, en nous alliant à des femmes étrangères qui appartiennent aux peuples du pays. Mais Israël ne reste pas pour cela sans espérance.

2 Entonces respondió Sechânías hijo de Jehiel, de los hijos Elam, y dijo á Esdras: Nosotros hemos prevaricado contra nuestro Dios, pues tomamos mujeres extranjeras de los pueblos de la tierra: mas hay aún esperanza para Israel sobre esto.
2 Und Sechanja, der Sohn Jehiels, aus den Kindern Elam, antwortete und sprach zu Esra: Wohlan, wir haben uns an unserm Gott vergriffen, daß wir fremde Weiber aus den Völkern des Landes genommen haben. Nun, es ist noch Hoffnung für Israel über dem.
3 Let us now make an agreement with our God to put away all the wives and all their children, if it seems right to my lord and to those who go in fear of the words of our God; and let it be done in keeping with the law.

3 Ahora pues hagamos pacto con nuestro Dios, que echaremos todas las mujeres y los nacidos de ellas, según el consejo del Señor, y de los que temen el mandamiento de nuestro Dios: y hágase conforme á la ley.
3 So laßt uns einen Bund machen mit unserm Gott, daß wir alle Weiber und die von ihnen geboren sind, hinaustun nach dem Rat des HERRN und derer, die die Gebote unsers Gottes fürchten, daß man tue nach dem Gesetz.
4 Up, now! for this is your business, and we are with you; take heart and do it.
4 Lève-toi, car cette affaire te regarde. Nous serons avec toi. Prends courage et agis.
4 Éirigh! Is é do chúramsa é, ach beimidne le d'ais. Bíodh misneach agat! Ar aghaidh leat!”
4 Levántate, porque á ti toca el negocio, y nosotros seremos contigo; esfuérzate, y ponlo por obra.
4 So mache dich auf! denn dir gebührt's; wir wollen mit dir sein. Sei getrost und tue es!
5 Then Ezra got up, and made the chiefs of the priests and the Levites and all Israel take an oath that they would do this. So they took an oath.
5 Esdras se leva, et il fit jurer aux chefs des sacrificateurs, des Lévites, et de tout Israël, de faire ce qui venait d'être dit. Et ils le jurèrent.
5 Ansin d'éirigh Eazrá agus chuir d'iallach ar na príomhshagairt agus ar na Léivítigh agus ar na hIosraelaigh go léir mionn a thabhairt go ndéanfaidís mar a dúradh; thug siad an mionn.
5 Entonces se levantó Esdras, y juramentó á los príncipes de los sacerdotes y de los Levitas, y á todo Israel, que harían conforme á esto; y ellos juraron.
5 Da stand Esra auf und nahm einen Eid von den Obersten der Priester und Leviten und des ganzen Israels, daß sie nach diesem Wort tun sollten. Und sie schwuren.
6 Then Ezra got up from before the house of God and went into the room of Jehohanan, the son of Eliashib; but when he came there, he took no food or drink, for he was sorrowing for the sin of those who had come back.
6 Puis Esdras se retira de devant la maison de Dieu, et il alla dans la chambre de Jochanan, fils d'Éliaschib; quand il y fut entré, il ne mangea point de pain et il ne but point d'eau, parce qu'il était dans la désolation à cause du péché des fils de la captivité.
6 Ansin d'imigh Eazrá leis óna ionad os comhair Theampall an Tiarna agus chuaigh isteach i seomra Iahóchánán mac Eiliáisíb mar ar [fhan sé an oíche sin] gan arán ná uisce a chaitheamh, mar bhí sé ag caoineadh feall na ndeoraithe.
6 Levantóse luego Esdras de delante la casa de Dios, y fuése á la cámara de Johanán hijo de Eliasib: é ido allá, no comió pan ni bebió agua, porque se entristeció sobre la prevaricación de los de la transmigración.
6 Und Esra stand auf vor dem Hause Gottes und ging in die Kammer Johanans, des Sohnes Eljasibs. Und da er dahin kam, aß er kein Brot und trank kein Wasser; denn er trug Leid um die Vergreifung derer, die gefangen gewesen waren.
7 And they made a public statement through all Judah and Jerusalem, to all those who had come back, that they were to come together to Jerusalem;
7 On publia dans Juda et à Jérusalem que tous les fils de la captivité eussent à se réunir à Jérusalem,

7 É hicieron pasar pregón por Judá y por Jerusalem á todos los hijos de la transmigración, que se juntasen en Jerusalem:
7 Und sie ließen ausrufen durch Juda und Jerusalem zu allen, die gefangen gewesen waren, daß sie sich gen Jerusalem versammelten.
8 And that if anyone did not come before three days were past, as ordered by the rulers and the responsible men, all his goods would be put under the curse, and he himself would be cut off from the meeting of the people who had come back.
8 et que, d'après l'avis des chefs et des anciens, quiconque ne s'y serait pas rendu dans trois jours aurait tous ses biens confisqués et serait lui-même exclu de l'assemblée des fils de la captivité.
8 agus aon duine nach dtiocfadh laistigh de thrí lá - ba é sin rabhadh na gceannairí agus na seanóirí - go ndéanfaí a mhaoin go léir a ghabháil agus é féin a dhíbirt ó chomhthionól na ndeoraithe.
8 Y que el que no viniera dentro de tres días, conforme al acuerdo de los príncipes y de los ancianos, perdiese toda su hacienda, y él fuese apartado de la compañía de los de la transmigración.
8 Und welcher nicht käme in drei Tagen nach dem Rat der Obersten und Ältesten, des Habe sollte alle verbannt sein und er abgesondert von der Gemeinde der Gefangenen.
9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin came together to Jerusalem before three days were past; it was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people were seated in the wide square in front of the house of God, shaking with fear because of this business and because of the great rain.
9 Tous les hommes de Juda et de Benjamin se rassemblèrent à Jérusalem dans les trois jours. C'était le vingtième jour du neuvième mois. Tout le peuple se tenait sur la place de la maison de Dieu, tremblant à cause de la circonstance et par suite de la pluie.
9 Dá bharrsan tháinig muintir Iúdá agus Bhiniáimin go léir le chéile in Iarúsailéim laistigh de thrí lá; ba é an naoú mí é, agus an fichiú lá den mhí. Chruinnigh an pobal go léir sa chearnóg os comhair Theampall an Tiarna. Bhí siad ar ballchrith de bharr na hócáide agus de bharr tulca báistí.
9 Así todos los hombres de Judá y de Benjamín se reunieron en Jerusalem dentro de tres días, á los veinte del mes, el cual era el mes noveno; y sentóse todo el pueblo en la plaza de la casa de Dios, temblando con motivo de aquel negocio, y á causa de las lluvias.
9 Da versammelten sich alle Männer Juda's und Benjamins gen Jerusalem in drei Tagen, das ist am zwanzigsten Tage des neunten Monats. Und alles Volk saß auf der Straße vor dem Hause Gottes und zitterte um der Sache willen und vom Regen.
10 And Ezra the priest got to his feet and said to them, You have done wrong and taken strange women for your wives, so increasing the sin of Israel.
10 Esdras, le sacrificateur, se leva et leur dit: Vous avez péché en vous alliant à des femmes étrangères, et vous avez rendu Israël encore plus coupable.
10 Ansin d'éirigh Eazrá an sagart ina sheasamh agus dúirt: “Rinne sibh feall mar gur phós sibh mná deoranta, agus chuir sibh le ciontacht Iosrael.
10 Y levantóse Esdras el sacerdote, y díjoles: Vosotros habéis prevaricado, por cuanto tomasteis mujeres extrañas, añadiendo así sobre el pecado de Israel.
10 Und Esra, der Priester, stand auf und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr habt euch vergriffen, daß ihr fremde Weiber genommen habt, daß ihr der Schuld Israels noch mehr machtet.
11 So now, give praise to the Lord, the God of your fathers, and do his pleasure; and make yourselves separate from the peoples of the land and from the strange women.
11 Confessez maintenant votre faute à l'Éternel, le Dieu de vos pères, et faites sa volonté! Séparez-vous des peuples du pays et des femmes étrangères.
11 Ach anois beirigí buíochas leis an Tiarna, Dia bhur sinsear, agus déanaigí a réir; scaraigí le pór na tíre agus le bhur mná deoranta.”
11 Ahora pues, dad gloria á Jehová Dios de vuestros padres, y haced su voluntad, y apartaos de los pueblos de las tierras, y de las mujeres extranjeras.
11 So bekennt nun dem HERRN, eurer Väter Gott, und tut sein Wohlgefallen und scheidet euch von den Völkern des Landes und von den fremden Weibern.
12 Then all the people, answering, said with a loud voice, As you have said, so it is right for us to do.
12 Toute l'assemblée répondit d'une voix haute: A nous de faire comme tu l'as dit!
12 D'fhreagair an comhthionól go léir d'aonghuth in ard a gcinn: “Mar sin atá; is é ár ndualgas déanamh mar a deir tú!
12 Y respondió todo aquel concurso, y dijeron en alta voz: Así se haga conforme á tu palabra.
12 Da antwortete die ganze Gemeinde und sprach mit lauter Stimme: Es geschehe, wie du uns gesagt hast.
13 But the number of people is great, and it is a time of much rain; it is not possible for us to go on waiting outside, and this is not a thing which may be done in one day or even two: for our sin in this business is great.
13 Mais le peuple est nombreux, le temps est à la pluie, et il n'est pas possible de rester dehors; d'ailleurs, ce n'est pas l'oeuvre d'un jour ou deux, car il y en a beaucoup parmi nous qui ont péché dans cette affaire.
13 Ach tá mórán daoine anseo agus is é séasúr na báistí é agus ní féidir dúinn fanacht amuigh faoin spéir. Ní gnó lae nó dhó é seo, mar pheacaigh a lán againn ar an tslí seo.
13 Mas el pueblo es mucho, y el tiempo lluvioso, y no hay fuerza para estar en la calle: ni la obra es de un día ni de dos, porque somos muchos los que hemos prevaricado en este negocio.
13 Aber des Volks ist viel, und Regenzeit, und man kann nicht draußen stehen; so ist's auch nicht eines oder zweier Tage Werk, denn wir haben viel gemacht solcher Übertretungen.
14 So now let our rulers be representatives for all the people, and let all those in our towns who are married to strange women come at fixed times, and with them the responsible men and the judges of every town, till the burning wrath of our God is turned away from us, and this has been done.
14 Que nos chefs restent donc pour toute l'assemblée; et tous ceux qui dans nos villes se sont alliés à des femmes étrangères viendront à des époques fixes, avec les anciens et les juges de chaque ville, jusqu'à ce que l'ardente colère de notre Dieu se soit détournée de nous au sujet de cette affaire.
14 Déanadh ár gceannairí ionadaíocht don chomhthionól go léir; tagadh an mhuintir inár gcathracha a thóg mná deoranta chucu ar am ceaptha agus seanóirí agus breithiúna ó gach cathair ina gcoimhdeacht, nó go gcuirfear dínn fraoch feirge ár nDé i dtaobh an ghnó seo.”
14 Estén ahora nuestro príncipes, los de toda la congregación; y todos aquellos que en nuestras ciudades hubieren tomado mujeres extranjeras, vengan á tiempos aplazados, y con ellos los ancianos de cada ciudad, y los jueces de ellas, hasta que apartemos de nosotros el furor de la ira de nuestro Dios sobre esto.
14 Laßt uns unsre Obersten bestellen für die ganze Gemeinde, daß alle, die in unsern Städten fremde Weiber genommen haben, zu bestimmten Zeiten kommen und die Ältesten einer jeglichen Stadt und ihre Richter mit ihnen, bis daß von uns gewendet werde der Zorn unseres Gottes um dieser Sache willen.
15 Only Jonathan, the son of Asahel, and Jahzeiah, the son of Tikvah, were against this, Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite supporting them.

15 Fueron pues puestos sobre este negocio Jonathán hijo de Asael, y Jaazías hijo de Tikvah; y Mesullam y Sabethai, Levitas, les ayudaron.
15 (Nur Jonathan, der Sohn Asahels, und Jahseja, der Sohn Tikwas, setzten sich dawider, und Mesullam und Sabthai, der Levit, halfen ihnen.)
16 So those who had come back did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain heads of families, by their fathers' families, all of them by their names, were marked out; and on the first day of the tenth month they took their places to go into the question with care.
16 auquel se conformèrent les fils de la captivité. On choisit Esdras, le sacrificateur, et des chefs de famille selon leurs maisons paternelles, tous désignés par leurs noms; et ils siégèrent le premier jour du dixième mois pour s'occuper de la chose.

16 É hicieron así los hijos de la transmigración. Y apartados que fueron luego Esdras sacerdote, y los varones cabezas de familias en la casa de sus padres, todos ellos por sus nombres, sentáronse el primer día del mes décimo para inquirir el negocio.
16 Und die Kinder der Gefangenschaft taten also. Und der Priester Esra und Männer, welche die Häupter ihrer Vaterhäuser waren, alle mit Namen genannt, wurden ausgesondert und setzten sich am ersten Tage des zehnten Monats, zu erforschen diese Sache;
17 And they got to the end of all the men who were married to strange women by the first day of the first month.
17 Le premier jour du premier mois, ils en finirent avec tous les hommes qui s'étaient alliés à des femmes étrangères.

18 And among the sons of the priests who were married to strange women were these: of the sons of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak and his brothers, Maaseiah and Eliezer and Jarib and Gedaliah.
18 Parmi les fils de sacrificateurs, il s'en trouva qui s'étaient alliés à des femmes étrangères: des fils de Josué, fils de Jotsadak, et de ses frères, Maaséja, Éliézer, Jarib et Guedalia,
18 Seo iad ainmneacha na bhfear de shliocht na sagart a fuarthas a phos mná deoranta: Ar chlann mhac Iéisiúa mac Iózádác agus i measc a ghaolta: Másaeiá, Eilíeizir, Iáiríb agus Gadailiá.
18 Y de los hijos de los sacerdotes que habían tomado mujeres extranjeras, fueron hallados estos: De los hijos de Jesuá hijo de Josadec, y de sus hermanos: Maasías, y Eliezer, y Jarib, y Gedalías;
18 Und es wurden gefunden unter den Kindern der Priestern, die fremde Weiber genommen hatten, nämlich unter den Kindern Jesuas, des Sohnes Jozadaks, und seinen Brüdern Maaseja, Elieser, Jarib und Gedalja,
19 And they gave their word that they would put away their wives; and for their sin, they gave an offering of a male sheep of the flock.
19 qui s'engagèrent, en donnant la main, à renvoyer leurs femmes et à offrir un bélier en sacrifice de culpabilité;

19 Y dieron su mano en promesa de echar sus mujeres, y ofrecieron como culpados un carnero de los rebaños por su delito.
19 und sie gaben ihre Hand darauf, daß sie die Weiber wollten ausstoßen und zu ihrem Schuldopfer einen Widder für ihre Schuld geben;
20 And of the sons of Immer, Hanani and Zebadiah.
