1 Then Ahithophel said to Absalom, Let me take out twelve thousand men and this very night I will go after David:

1 Und Ahithophel sprach zu Absalom: Ich will zwölftausend Mann auslesen und mich aufmachen und David nachjagen bei der Nacht
2 And I will come up with him when he is tired and feeble, and make him full of fear: and all the people with him will go in flight; and I will make an attack on the king only:
2 Je le surprendrai pendant qu'il est fatigué et que ses mains sont affaiblies, je l'épouvanterai, et tout le peuple qui est avec lui s'enfuira. Je frapperai le roi seul,
2 Tiocfaidh mé suas leis agus tuirse agus lagmhisneach air; cuirfidh mé scanradh air agus teithfidh an mhuintir go léir atá ina theannta. Ní dhéanfaidh mé ach an rí féin a threascairt,
2 Y daré sobre él cuando él estará cansado y flaco de manos: lo atemorizaré, y todo el pueblo que está con él huirá, y heriré al rey solo.
2 und will ihn überfallen, weil er matt und laß ist. Wenn ich ihn dann erschrecke, daß alles Volk, das bei ihm ist, flieht, will ich den König allein schlagen
3 And I will make all the people come back to you as a bride comes back to her husband: it is the life of only one man you are going after; so all the people will be at peace.
3 et je ramènerai à toi tout le peuple; la mort de l'homme à qui tu en veux assurera le retour de tous, et tout le peuple sera en paix.
3 agus tabharfaidh mé an pobal go léir ar ais chugat mar a thiocfadh brídeog abhaile chun a fear céile. Níl tú sa tóir ach ar anam aon duine amháin, agus beidh an chuid eile den phobal faoi shíocháin.”
3 Así tornaré á todo el pueblo á ti: y cuando ellos hubieren vuelto, (pues aquel hombre es el que tú quieres) todo el pueblo estará en paz.
3 und alles Volk wieder zu dir bringen. Wenn dann jedermann zu dir gebracht ist, wie du begehrst, so bleibt alles Volk mit Frieden.
4 And the saying was pleasing to Absalom and to the responsible men of Israel.
4 Cette parole plut à Absalom et à tous les anciens d'Israël.
4 Thaitin an chomhairle sin le hAibseálóm agus le seanóirí Iosrael go léir.
4 Esta razón pareció bien á Absalom y á todos los ancianos de Israel.

5 Then Absalom said, Now send for Hushai the Archite, and let us give ear to what he has to say.
5 Cependant Absalom dit: Appelez encore Huschaï, l'Arkien, et que nous entendions aussi ce qu'il dira.
5 Ansin dúirt Aibseálóm: “Glaoigh ar Húisí an tAircíoch chomh maith, agus tugaimis cluas dá bhfuil le rá aige.”
5 Y dijo Absalom: Llama también ahora á Husai Arachîta, para que asimismo oigamos lo que él dirá.
5 Aber Absalom sprach: Laßt doch Husai, den Arachiten, auch rufen und hören, was er dazu sagt.
6 And when Hushai came, Absalom said to him, This is what Ahithophel has said: are we to do as he says? if not, what is your suggestion?
6 Huschaï vint auprès d'Absalom, et Absalom lui dit: Voici comment a parlé Achitophel: devons-nous faire ce qu'il a dit, ou non? Parle, toi!
6 Nuair a tháinig Húisí go hAibseálóm, dúirt Aibseálóm leis: “Sin mar a deir Aichítifeil; an ndéanfaimid mar a deir sé? Mura ndéanfaimid, abair rud éigin tú féin.”
6 Y como Husai vino á Absalom, hablóle Absalom, diciendo: Así ha dicho Achitophel; ¿seguiremos su consejo, ó no? Di tú.
6 Und da Husai hinein zu Absalom kam, sprach Absalom zu ihm: Solches hat Ahithophel geredet; sage du, sollen wir's tun oder nicht?
7 And Hushai said to Absalom, Ahithophel's idea is not a good one at this time.
7 Huschaï répondit à Absalom: Pour cette fois le conseil qu'a donné Achitophel n'est pas bon.
7 Ansin dúirt Húisí le hAibseálóm: “An chomhairle a thug Aichítifeil an turas seo, ní maith í.”
7 Entonces Husai dijo á Absalom: El consejo que ha dado esta vez Achitophel no es bueno.
7 Da sprach Husai zu Absalom: Es ist nicht ein guter Rat, den Ahithophel auf diesmal gegeben hat.
8 Hushai said further, You have knowledge of your father and his men, that they are men of war, and that their feelings are bitter, like those of a bear in the field whose young ones have been taken from her: and your father is a man of war, and will not take his night's rest with the people;
8 Et Huschaï dit: Tu connais la bravoure de ton père et de ses gens, ils sont furieux comme le serait dans les champs une ourse à qui l'on aurait enlevé ses petits. Ton père est un homme de guerre, et il ne passera pas la nuit avec le peuple;
8 Lean Húisí air: “Tá a fhios agaibh gur gaiscígh iad d'athair agus a chuid fear agus go bhfuil fraoch feirge orthu faoi mar a bheadh ar bheithir fáin a sciobfaí a hál uaithi. Tá taithí ag d'athair ar chogaíocht, seachas sin; ní chaithfidh sé an oíche leis an arm.
8 Y añadió Husai: Tú sabes que tu padre y los suyos son hombres valientes, y que están con amargura de ánimo, como la osa en el campo cuando le han quitado los hijos. Además, tu padre es hombre de guerra, y no tendrá la noche con el pueblo.
8 Und Husai sprach weiter: Du kennst deinen Vater wohl und seine Leute, daß sie stark sind und zornigen Gemüts wie ein Bär auf dem Felde, dem die Jungen geraubt sind; dazu ist dein Vater ein Kriegsmann und wird sich nicht säumen mit dem Volk.
9 But he will certainly have taken cover now in some hole or secret place; and if some of our people, at the first attack, are overcome, then any hearing of it will say, There is destruction among the people who are on Absalom's side.
9 voici maintenant, il est caché dans quelque fosse ou dans quelque autre lieu. Et si, dès le commencement, il en est qui tombent sous leurs coups, on ne tardera pas à l'apprendre et l'on dira: Il y a une défaite parmi le peuple qui suit Absalom!

9 He aquí él estará ahora escondido en alguna cueva, ó en otro lugar: y si al principio cayeren algunos de los tuyos, oirálo quien lo oyere, y dirá: El pueblo que sigue á Absalom ha sido derrotado.
9 Siehe, er hat sich jetzt vielleicht verkrochen irgend in einer Grube oder sonst an einen Ort. Wenn's dann geschähe, daß es das erstemal übel geriete und käme ein Geschrei und spräche: Es ist das Volk, welches Absalom nachfolgt, geschlagen worden,
10 Then even the strongest, whose heart is like the heart of a lion, will become like water; for all Israel is conscious that your father is a man of war, and those who are with him are strong and without fear.
10 Alors le plus vaillant, eût-il un coeur de lion, sera saisi d'épouvante; car tout Israël sait que ton père est un héros et qu'il a des braves avec lui.
10 Ansin titfidh an lug ar an lag fiú ag lucht an chroí mar leon. Tá a fhios ag Iosrael go léir gur gaiscíoch é d'athair agus gur laochra iad an dream atá ina theannta.
10 Así aun el hombre valiente, cuyo corazón sea como corazón de león, sin duda desmayará: porque todo Israel sabe que tu padre es hombre valiente, y que los que están con él son esforzados.
10 so würde jedermann verzagt werden, der auch sonst ein Krieger ist und ein Herz hat wie ein Löwe. Denn es weiß ganz Israel, daß dein Vater stark ist und Krieger, die bei ihm sind.
11 But my suggestion is that all Israel, from Dan as far as Beer-sheba, comes together to you, a great army like the sands of the sea in number; and that you yourself go out among them.
11 Je conseille donc que tout Israël se rassemble auprès de toi, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beer Schéba, multitude pareille au sable qui est sur le bord de la mer. Tu marcheras en personne au combat.
11 Sé mo chomhairlese duit: Iosrael go léir ó Dhán go Béar Seaba a thionól i do thimpeall, agus iad chomh líonmhar le gaineamh na trá: agus tú féin a dhul chun catha chomh maith.
11 Aconsejo pues que todo Israel se junte á ti, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, en multitud como la arena que está á la orilla de la mar, y que tú en persona vayas á la batalla.
11 Aber das rate ich, daß du zu dir versammlest ganz Israel von Dan an bis gen Beer-Seba, so viel als der Sand am Meer, und deine Person ziehe unter ihnen.
12 Then we will come on him in some place, wherever he may be, falling on him as the dew comes on the earth: and of him and all the men who are with him not one will get away with his life.
12 Nous arriverons à lui en quelque lieu que nous le trouvions, et nous tomberons sur lui comme la rosée tombe sur le sol; et pas un n'échappera, ni lui ni aucun des hommes qui sont avec lui.
12 Tiocfaimid air cibé áit ina bhfuil sé le fáil; titfimid sa mhullach air faoi mar a thiteann an drúcht ar an talamh gan eisean ná aon duine ina chuideachta a fhágáil beo.
12 Entonces le acometeremos en cualquier lugar que pudiere hallarse, y daremos sobre él como cuando el rocío cae sobre la tierra, y ni uno dejaremos de él, y de todos los que con él están.
12 So wollen wir ihn überfallen, an welchem Ort wir ihn finden, und wollen über ihn kommen, wie der Tau auf die Erde fällt, daß wir von ihm und allen seinen Männern nicht einen übriglassen.
13 And if he has gone into some town, then let all Israel take strong cords to that town, and we will have it pulled into the valley, till not one small stone is to be seen there.
13 S'il se retire dans une ville, tout Israël portera des cordes vers cette ville, et nous la traînerons au torrent, jusqu'à ce qu'on n'en trouve plus une pierre.
13 Má theitheann sé isteach i gcathair, tabharfaidh Iosrael go léir téada chun na cathrach sin agus déanfaimid í a tharraingt isteach sa ghleann go dtí nach mbeidh oiread agus púróg di le fáil.”
13 Y si se recogiere en alguna ciudad, todos los de Israel traerán sogas á aquella ciudad, y la arrastraremos hasta el arroyo, que nunca más parezca piedra de ella.
13 Wird er sich aber in eine Stadt versammeln, so soll das ganze Israel Stricke an die Stadt werfen und sie in den Bach reißen, daß man nicht ein Kieselein da finde.
14 Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, Hushai's suggestion is better than that of Ahithophel. For it was the purpose of the Lord to make the wise designs of Ahithophel without effect, so that the Lord might send evil on Absalom.
14 Absalom et tous les gens d'Israël dirent: Le conseil de Huschaï, l'Arkien, vaut mieux que le conseil d'Achitophel. Or l'Éternel avait résolu d'anéantir le bon conseil d'Achitophel, afin d'amener le malheur sur Absalom.
14 Dúirt Aibseálóm agus muintir Iosrael uile ansin: “Is fearr comhairle Húisí an tAircíoch ná comhairle Aichítifeil,” óir chinn an Tiarna comhairle eagnaí Aichítifeil a chur amú agus mí-ádh a thabhairt ar Aibseálóm ar an gcaoi sin.
14 Entonces Absalom y todos los de Israel dijeron: El consejo de Husai Arachîta es mejor que el consejo de Achitophel. Porque había Jehová ordenado que el acertado consejo de Achitophel se frustara, para que Jehová hiciese venir el mal sobre Absalom.
14 Da sprach Absalom und jedermann in Israel: Der Rat Husais, des Arachiten, ist besser denn Ahithophels Rat. Aber der HERR schickte es also, daß der gute Rat Ahithophels verhindert wurde, auf daß der HERR Unheil über Absalom brächte.
15 Then Hushai said to Zadok and Abiathar, the priests, This is the suggestion made by Ahithophel to Absalom and the responsible men of Israel, and this is what I said to them.
15 Huschaï dit aux sacrificateurs Tsadok et Abiathar: Achitophel a donné tel et tel conseil à Absalom et aux anciens d'Israël; et moi, j'ai conseillé telle et telle chose.
15 Dúirt Húisí leis na sagairt Zádóc agus Aibíátár ansin: “Thug Aichítifeil a leithéid seo agus a leithéid siúd de chomhairle d'Aibseálóm agus do sheanóirí Iosrael, ach mar seo agus mar siúd a chomhairligh mise dóibh a dhéanamh.
15 Dijo luego Husai á Sadoc y á Abiathar sacerdotes: Así y así aconsejó Achitophel á Absalom y á los ancianos de Israel: y de esta manera aconsejé yo.
15 Und Husai sprach zu Zadok und Abjathar, den Priestern: So und so hat Ahithophel Absalom und den Ältesten in Israel geraten; ich aber habe so und so geraten.
16 So now send the news quickly to David, and say, Do not take your night's rest by the way across the river to the waste land, but be certain to go over; or the king and all the people with him will come to destruction.
16 Maintenant, envoyez tout de suite informer David et faites-lui dire: Ne passe point la nuit dans les plaines du désert, mais va plus loin, de peur que le roi et tout le peuple qui est avec lui ne soient exposés à périr.
16 Cuirigí scéala go Dáiví gan mhoill dá bhrí sin agus abraigí leis: ‘Ná cuir fút anocht i réitigh an fhásaigh, ach gabh anonn chomh tapa agus is féidir leat nó scriosfar an rí agus an t‑arm go léir in éineacht leis.’ ” Faigheann Dáiví Rabhadh
16 Por tanto enviad inmediatemente, y dad aviso á David, diciendo: No quedes esta noche en los campos del desierto, sino pasa luego el Jordán, porque el rey no sea consumido, y todo el pueblo que con él está.
16 So sendet nun eilend hin und lasset David ansagen und sprecht: Bleibe nicht auf dem blachen Felde der Wüste, sondern mache dich hinüber, daß der König nicht verschlungen werde und alles Volk, das bei ihm ist.
17 Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were waiting by En-rogel; and a servant-girl went from time to time and gave them news and they went with the news to King David, for it was not wise for them to let themselves be seen coming into the town.

17 Y Jonathán y Ahimaas estaban junto á la fuente de Rogel, porque no podían ellos mostrarse viniendo á la ciudad; fué por tanto una criada, y dióles el aviso: y ellos fueron, y noticiáronlo al rey David.
17 Jonathan aber und Ahimaaz standen bei dem Brunnen Rogel, und eine Magd ging hin und sagte es ihnen an. Sie aber gingen hin und sagten es dem König David an; denn sie durften sich nicht sehen lassen, daß sie in die Stadt kämen.
18 But a boy saw them, and gave word of it to Absalom: so the two of them went away quickly, and came to the house of a man in Bahurim who had a water-hole in his garden, and they went down into it.
18 Un jeune homme les aperçut, et le rapporta à Absalom. Mais ils partirent tous deux en hâte, et ils arrivèrent à Bachurim à la maison d'un homme qui avait un puits dans sa cour, et ils y descendirent.

18 Empero fueron vistos por un mozo, el cual dió cuenta á Absalom: sin embargo los dos se dieron priesa á caminar, y llegaron á casa de un hombre en Bahurim, que tenía un pozo en su patio, dentro del cual se metieron.
18 Es sah sie aber ein Knabe und sagte es Absalom an. Aber die beiden gingen eilend hin und kamen in eines Mannes Haus zu Bahurim; der hatte einen Brunnen in seinem Hofe. Dahinein stiegen sie,
19 And a woman put a cover over the hole, and put crushed grain on top of it, and no one had any knowledge of it.
19 La femme prit une couverture qu'elle étendit sur l'ouverture du puits, et elle y répandit du grain pilé pour qu'on ne se doutât de rien.
19 Fuair an bhean brat agus leath sí é ar bhéal an tobair, agus chroith arbhar meilte air gan aon ní a fhágáil le feiceáil.
19 Y tomando la mujer de la casa una manta, extendióla sobre la boca del pozo, y tendió sobre ella el grano trillado; y no se penetró el negocio.
19 und das Weib nahm und breitete eine Decke über des Brunnens Loch und breitete Grütze darüber, daß man es nicht merkte.
20 And Absalom's servants came to the woman at the house and said, Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said to them, They have gone from here to the stream. And after searching for them, and seeing nothing of them, they went back to Jerusalem.
20 Les serviteurs d'Absalom entrèrent dans la maison auprès de cette femme, et dirent: Où sont Achimaats et Jonathan? La femme leur répondit: Ils ont passé le ruisseau. Ils cherchèrent, et ne les trouvant pas, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem.
20 Tháinig searbhóntaí Aibseálóm chun na mná sa teach: “Cá bhfuil Aichímeáz agus Iónátán?” ar siad. D'fhreagair an bhean: “D'imíodar leo ar aghaidh i dtreo an uisce.” Rinne siad cuardach dóibh ach nuair nach bhfuair siad iad d'fhill siad ar Iarúsailéim.
20 Llegando luego los criados de Absalom á la casa á la mujer, dijéronle: ¿Dónde están Ahimaas y Jonathán? Y la mujer les respondió: Ya han pasado el vado de las aguas. Y como ellos los buscaron y no los hallaron volviéronse á Jerusalem.
20 Da nun die Knechte Absaloms zum Weibe ins Haus kamen, sprachen sie: Wo ist Ahimaaz und Jonathan? Das Weib sprach zu ihnen: Sie gingen über das Wässerlein. Und da sie suchten, und nicht fanden, gingen sie wieder gen Jerusalem.
21 Then after the servants had gone away, they came up out of the water-hole and went to give King David the news; and they said, Get up and go quickly over the water, for such and such are Ahithophel's designs against you.
21 Après leur départ, Achimaats et Jonathan remontèrent du puits et allèrent informer le roi David. Ils dirent à David: Levez-vous et hâtez-vous de passer l'eau, car Achitophel a conseillé contre vous telle chose.

21 Y después que ellos se hubieron ido, estotros salieron del pozo, y fuéronse, y dieron aviso al rey David; y dijéronle: Levantaos y daos priesa á pasar las aguas, porque Achitophel ha dado tal consejo contra vosotros.
21 Und da sie weg waren, stiegen jene aus dem Brunnen und gingen hin und sagten's David, dem König, an und sprachen zu David: Macht euch auf und geht eilend über das Wasser; denn so und so hat Ahithophel wider euch Rat gegeben.
22 So David and all the people who were with him went up over Jordan: when dawn came, every one of them had gone over Jordan.
22 David et tout le peuple qui était avec lui se levèrent et ils passèrent le Jourdain; à la lumière du matin, il n'y en avait pas un qui fût resté à l'écart, pas un qui n'eût passé le Jourdain.
22 Chuir Dáiví agus a lucht leanúna go léir chun bóthair agus chuadar anonn thar Iordáin; faoi mhaidin ní raibh duine fágtha nach raibh imithe anonn thar Iordáin.
22 Entonces David se levantó, y todo el pueblo que con él estaba, y pasaron el Jordán antes que amaneciese; ni siquiera faltó uno que no pasase el Jordán.
22 Da machte sich David auf und alles Volk, das bei ihm war, und gingen über den Jordan, bis es lichter Morgen ward, und fehlte nicht an einem, der nicht über den Jordan gegangen wäre.
23 Now when Ahithophel saw that his suggestion was not acted on, he got his ass ready, and went back to his house, to the town where he came from, and having put his house in order, he put himself to death by hanging; so he came to his end and was put in the resting-place of his father.
23 Achitophel, voyant que son conseil n'était pas suivi, sella son âne et partit pour s'en aller chez lui dans sa ville. Il donna ses ordres à sa maison, et il s'étrangla. C'est ainsi qu'il mourut, et on l'enterra dans le sépulcre de son père.

23 Y Achitophel, viendo que no se había puesto por obra su consejo, enalbardó su asno, y levantóse, y fuése á su casa en su ciudad; y después de disponer acerca de su casa, ahorcóse y murió, y fué sepultado en el sepulcro de su padre.
23 Als aber Ahithophel sah, daß sein Rat nicht ausgeführt ward, sattelte er seinen Esel, machte sich auf und zog heim in seine Stadt und beschickte sein Haus und erhängte sich und starb und ward begraben in seines Vaters Grab.
24 And David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom, with all the men of Israel, went over Jordan.
24 David arriva à Mahanaïm. Et Absalom passa le Jourdain, lui et tous les hommes d'Israël avec lui.

25 And Absalom put Amasa at the head of the army in place of Joab. Now Amasa was the son of a man named Ithra the Ishmaelite, who had been the lover of Abigail, the daughter of Jesse, sister of Zeruiah, Joab's mother.
25 Absalom mit Amasa à la tête de l'armée, en remplacement de Joab; Amasa était fils d'un homme appelé Jithra, l'Israélite, qui était allé vers Abigal, fille de Nachasch et soeur de Tseruja, mère de Joab.

25 Y Absalom constituyó á Amasa, sobre el ejército en lugar de Joab, el cual Amasa fué hijo de un varón de Israel llamado Itra, el cual había entrado á Abigail hija de Naas, hermana de Sarvia, madre de Joab.
25 Und Absalom hatte Amasa an Joabs Statt gesetzt über das Heer. Es war aber Amasa eines Mannes Sohn, der hieß Jethra, ein Israeliter, welcher einging zu Abigail, der Tochter des Nahas, der Schwester der Zeruja, Joabs Mutter.
26 And Israel and Absalom put up their tents in the land of Gilead.
26 Israël et Absalom campèrent dans le pays de Galaad.

27 Now when David had come to Mahanaim, Shobi, the son of Nahash of Rabbah, the Ammonite, and Machir, the son of Ammiel of Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,
