1 Now after this, death came to the king of the children of Ammon, and Hanun, his son, became king in his place.
1 Après cela, le roi des fils d'Ammon mourut, et Hanun, son fils, régna à sa place.

1 Después de esto aconteció, que murió el rey de los hijos de Ammón: y reinó en lugar suyo Hanún su hijo.
1 Und es begab sich darnach, daß der König der Kinder Ammon starb, und sein Sohn Hanun ward König an seiner Statt.
2 And David said, I will be a friend to Hanun, the son of Nahash, as his father was a friend to me. So David sent his servants, to give him words of comfort on account of his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
2 David dit: Je montrerai de la bienveillance à Hanun, fils de Nachasch, comme son père en a montré à mon égard. Et David envoya ses serviteurs pour le consoler au sujet de son père. Lorsque les serviteurs de David arrivèrent dans le pays des fils d'Ammon,
2 Dúirt Dáiví leis féin: “Beidh mé chomh dílis céanna do Hánún mac Nácháis agus a bhí a athair domsa.” Chuir Dáiví a sheirbhísigh chuige le teachtaireacht chomhbhróin faoi bhás a athar. Ach nuair a ghabh seirbhísigh Dháiví isteach i dtír na nAmónach,
2 Y dijo David: Yo haré misericordia con Hanún hijo de Naas, como su padre la hizo conmigo. Y envió David sus siervos á consolarlo por su padre. Mas llegados los siervos de David á la tierra de los hijos de Ammón,
2 Da sprach David: Ich will Barmherzigkeit tun an Hanun, dem Sohn Nahas, wie sein Vater an mir Barmherzigkeit getan hat. Und sandte hin und ließ ihn trösten durch seine Knechte über seinen Vater. Da nun die Knechte Davids ins Land der Kinder Ammon kamen,
3 But the chiefs of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, Does it seem to you that David is honouring your father by sending comforters to you? has he not sent his servants to go through the town and make secret observation of it, and overcome it?
3 les chefs des fils d'Ammon dirent à Hanun, leur maître: Penses-tu que ce soit pour honorer ton père que David t'envoie des consolateurs? N'est-ce pas pour reconnaître et explorer la ville, et pour la détruire, qu'il envoie ses serviteurs auprès de toi?
3 dúirt na taoisigh Amónacha le Hánún a máistir: “An dóigh leat gur d'fhonn onóir a thabhairt do d'athair atá teachtairí comhbhróin á gcur ag Dáiví chugat? A mhalairt, nach bhfuil a sheirbhísigh curtha ag Dáiví chugat chun an chathair a bhrath, a spíonadh agus a scrios?”
3 Los príncipes de los hijos de Ammón dijeron á Hanún su señor: ¿Te parece que por honrar David á tu padre te ha enviado consoladores? ¿no ha enviado David sus siervos á ti por reconocer é inspeccionar la ciudad, para destruirla?
3 sprachen die Gewaltigen der Kinder Ammon zu ihrem Herrn, Hanun: Meinst du, daß David deinen Vater ehren wolle, daß er Tröster zu dir gesandt hat? Meinst du nicht, daß er darum hat seine Knechte zu dir gesandt, daß er die Stadt erforsche und erkunde und umkehre?
4 So Hanun took David's servants, and after cutting off half the hair on their chins, and cutting off the skirts of their robes up to the middle, he sent them away.
4 Alors Hanun saisit les serviteurs de David, leur fit raser la moitié de la barbe, et fit couper leurs habits par le milieu jusqu'au haut des cuisses. Puis il les congédia.
4 Ghabh Hánún seirbhísigh Dháiví dá bhrí sin, bhearr an fhéasóg de gach duine díobh, ghearr a gcuid éadaigh díobh leath slí suas chun a más, agus chuir chun siúil iad.
4 Entonces Hanún tomó los siervos de David, y rapóles la mitad de la barba, y cortóles los vestidos por la mitad hasta las nalgas, y despachólos.
4 Da nahm Hanun die Knechte David und schor ihnen den Bart halb und schnitt ihnen die Kleider halb ab bis an den Gürtel und ließ sie gehen.
5 When David had news of it, he sent men out with the purpose of meeting them on their way, for the men were greatly shamed: and the king said, Go to Jericho till your hair is long again, and then come back.
5 David, qui fut informé, envoya des gens à leur rencontre, car ces hommes étaient dans une grande confusion; et le roi leur fit dire: Restez à Jéricho jusqu'à ce que votre barbe ait repoussé, et revenez ensuite.
5 Nuair a insíodh an scéal do Dháiví, chuir sé teachtaire ina gcoinne, mar go raibh náire shaolta ar na fir. “Fanaigí in Ireachó,” arsan rí, “go bhfása bhur bhféasóg aris, agus tagaigí ar ais ansin.”
5 Lo cual como fué hecho saber á David, envió á encontrarles, porque ellos estaban en extremo avergonzados; y el rey hizo decir les: Estaos en Jericó hasta que os vuelva á nacer la barba, y entonces regresaréis.
5 Da das David ward angesagt, sandte er ihnen entgegen; denn die Männer waren sehr geschändet. Und der König ließ ihnen sagen: Bleibt zu Jericho, bis euer Bart gewachsen; so kommt dann wieder.
6 And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves hated by David, they sent to the Aramaeans of Beth-rehob and Zobah, and got for payment twenty thousand footmen, and they got from the king of Maacah a thousand men, and from Tob twelve thousand.
6 Les fils d'Ammon, voyant qu'ils s'étaient rendus odieux à David, firent enrôler à leur solde vingt mille hommes de pied chez les Syriens de Beth Rehob et chez les Syriens de Tsoba, mille hommes chez le roi de Maaca, et douze mille hommes chez les gens de Tob.
6 Nuair a chonaic na hAmónaigh go raibh an ghráin tagtha ar Dháiví leo, chuireadar teachtairí le hAramaeigh Bhéit Rachob agus Aramaeigh Zóbá, fiche míle troitheach, a fhostú; agus rí Mhácá le míle fear, agus muintir Thób, dhá mhíle dhéag fear.
6 Y viendo los hijos de Ammón que se habían hecho odiosos á David, enviaron los hijos de Ammón y tomaron á sueldo á los Siros de la casa de Rehob, y á los Siros de Soba, veinte mil hombres de á pie: y del rey de Maaca mil hombres, y de Is-tob doce mil hombres.
6 Da aber die Kinder Ammon sahen, daß sie vor David stinkend geworden waren, sandten sie hin und dingten die Syrer des Hauses Rehob und die Syrer zu Zoba, zwanzigtausend Mann Fußvolk, und von dem König Maachas tausend Mann und von Is-Tob zwölftausend Mann.
7 And hearing of this, David sent Joab and all the army and the best fighting-men.
7 A cette nouvelle, David envoya contre eux Joab et toute l'armée, les hommes vaillants.
7 Nuair a chuala Dáiví é sin sheol sé amach Ióáb leis na saighdiúirí singile agus leis na curaidh.
7 Lo cual como oyó David, envió á Joab con todo el ejército de los valientes.
7 Da das David hörte, sandte er Joab mit dem ganzen Heer der Kriegsleute.
8 And the children of Ammon came out and put their forces in position at the way into the town: and the Aramaeans of Zobah and of Rehob, with the men of Tob and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
8 Les fils d'Ammon sortirent, et se rangèrent en bataille à l'entrée de la porte; les Syriens de Tsoba et de Rehob, et les hommes de Tob et de Maaca, étaient à part dans la campagne.
8 Mháirseáil na hAmónaigh amach agus chuadar in eagar catha ag béal an gheata, ach d'fhan Aramaeigh Zóbá agus Rachob, muintir Thób agus Mhácá, leo féin sa mhachaire.
8 Y saliendo los hijos de Ammón, ordenaron sus escuadrones á la entrada de la puerta: mas los Siros de Soba, y de Rehob, y de Is-tob, y de Maaca, estaban de por sí en le campo.
8 Und die Kinder Ammon zogen aus und rüsteten sich zum Streit vor dem Eingang des Tors. Die Syrer aber von Zoba, von Rehob, von Is-Tob und von Maacha waren allein im Felde.
9 Now when Joab saw that their forces were in position against him in front and at his back, he took the best of the men of Israel and put them in line against the Aramaeans;
9 Joab vit qu'il avait à combattre par devant et par derrière. Il choisit alors sur toute l'élite d'Israël un corps, qu'il opposa aux Syriens;
9 Nuair a chonaic Ióáb go raibh an cath le cur ar a bhéala agus ar a chúla, thogh sé cuid de rogha na nIosraelach agus chóirigh iad in aghaidh na nAramaech.
9 Viendo pues Joab que había escuadrones delante y detrás de él, entresacó de todos los escogidos de Israel, y púsose en orden contra los Siros.
9 Da Joab nun sah, daß der Streit auf ihn gestellt war vorn und hinten, erwählte er aus aller jungen Mannschaft in Israel und stellte sich wider die Syrer.
10 And the rest of the people he put in position against the children of Ammon, with Abishai, his brother, at their head.
10 et il plaça sous le commandement de son frère Abischaï le reste du peuple, pour faire face aux fils d'Ammon.
10 Chuir sé an chuid eile den arm faoi cheannas a dhearthár Aibísí, agus chóirigh iad in aghaidh na nAmónach.
10 Entregó luego lo que quedó del pueblo en mano de Abisai su hermano, y púsolo en orden para encontrar á los Ammonitas.
10 Und das übrige Volk tat er unter die Hand seines Bruders Abisai, daß er sich rüstete wider dir Kinder Ammon,
11 And he said, If the Aramaeans are stronger and get the better of me, then you are to come to my help; but if the children of Ammon get the better of you, I will come to your help.
11 Il dit: Si les Syriens sont plus forts que moi, tu viendras à mon secours; et si les fils d'Ammon sont plus forts que toi, j'irai te secourir.
11 Má bhíonn na hAramaeigh róthréan domsa, cabhraighse liom,” ar sé, “ach má bhíonn na hAmónaigh rothréan duitse, rachaidh mé i gcabhair ortsa.
11 Y dijo: Si los Siros me fueren superiores, tú me ayudarás; y si los hijos de Ammón pudieren más que tú, yo te daré ayuda.
11 und sprach: Werden mir die Syrer überlegen sein, so komm mir zu Hilfe; werden aber die Kinder Ammon dir überlegen sein, so will ich dir zu Hilfe kommen.
12 Take heart, and let us be strong for our people and for the towns of our God, and may the Lord do what seems good to him.
12 Sois ferme, et montrons du courage pour notre peuple et pour les villes de notre Dieu, et que l'Éternel fasse ce qui lui semblera bon!
12 Bíodh misneach agat agus seas an fód ar son ár bpobail agus cathracha ár nDé. Go ndéana an Tiarna mar is rogha leis.”
12 Esfuérzate, y esforcémonos por nuestro pueblo, y por las ciudades de nuestro Dios: y haga Jehová lo que bien le pareciere.
12 Sei getrost und laß uns stark sein für unser Volk und für die Städte unsers Gottes; der HERR aber tue, was ihm gefällt.
13 Then Joab and the people with him went forward to the fight against the Aramaeans, and they went in flight before him.
13 Joab, avec son peuple, s'avança pour attaquer les Syriens, et ils s'enfuirent devant lui.
13 Chuaigh Ióáb agus an mhuintir a bhí in éineacht leis i ngleic leis na hAramaeigh ach theitheadarsan uaidh.
13 Y acercóse Joab, y el pueblo que con él estaba, para pelear con los Siros; mas ellos huyeron delante de él.
13 Und Joab machte sich herzu mit dem Volk, das bei ihm war, zu streiten wider die Syrer; und sie flohen vor ihm.
14 And when the children of Ammon saw the flight of the Aramaeans, they themselves went in flight from Abishai, and came into the town. So Joab went back from fighting the children of Ammon and came to Jerusalem.
14 Et quand les fils d'Ammon virent que les Syriens avaient pris la fuite, ils s'enfuirent aussi devant Abischaï et rentrèrent dans la ville. Joab s'éloigna des fils d'Ammon et revint à Jérusalem.
14 Nuair a chonaic na hAmónaigh gur theith na hAramaeigh theitheadar féin mar an gcéanna ó Aibísí agus isteach leo sa chathair. D'fhill Ióáb ansin ón gcogadh in aghaidh na nAmónach agus tháinig ar ais go Iarúsailéim.
14 Entonces los hijos de Ammón, viendo que los Siros habían huído, huyeron también ellos delante de Abisai, y entráronse en la ciudad. Y volvió Joab de los hijos de Ammón, y vínose á Jerusalem.
14 Und da die Kinder Ammon sahen, daß die Syrer flohen, flohen sie auch vor Abisai und zogen in die Stadt. Also kehrte Joab um von den Kindern Ammon und kam gen Jerusalem.
15 And when the Aramaeans saw that Israel had overcome them, they got themselves together.
15 Les Syriens, voyant qu'ils avaient été battus par Israël, réunirent leurs forces.
15 Ar fheiceáil do na hAramaeigh gur bhris Iosrael orthu, chruinníodar go léir le chéile.
15 Mas viendo los Siros que habían caído delante de Israel, tornáronse á juntar.
15 Und da die Syrer sahen, daß sie geschlagen waren vor Israel, kamen sie zuhauf.
16 And Hadadezer sent for the Aramaeans who were on the other side of the River: and they came to Helam, with Shobach, the captain of Hadadezer's army, at their head.
16 Hadadézer envoya chercher les Syriens qui étaient de l'autre côté du fleuve; et ils arrivèrent à Hélam, ayant à leur tête Schobac, chef de l'armée d'Hadadézer.
16 Chuir Hadad Eizir teachtairí go dtí na hAramaeigh a bhí taobh thall den Abhainn agus bhailigh chuige iad. Thángadar go Haelám agus Seobác ceann feadhna arm Hadad Eizir a dtreorú.
16 Y envió Hadad-ezer, y sacó los Siros que estaban de la otra parte del río, los cuales vinieron á Helam, llevando por jefe á Sobach general del ejército de Hadad-ezer.
16 Und Hadadeser sandte hin und brachte heraus die Syrer jenseit des Stromes und führte herein ihre Macht; und Sobach, der Feldhauptmann Hadadesers, zog vor ihnen her.
17 And word of this was given to David: and he got all Israel together and went over Jordan and came to Helam. And the Aramaeans put their forces in position against David, and made an attack on him.
17 On l'annonça à David, qui assembla tout Israël, passa le Jourdain, et vint à Hélam. Les Syriens se préparèrent à la rencontre de David, et lui livrèrent bataille.
17 Nuair a d'insíodar é sin do Dháiví, chruinnigh sé Iosrael go léir le chéile, agus ghabh thar an Iordáin agus tháinig go Haelám. Chuir na hAramaeigh cóiriú catha orthu féin in aghaidh Dháiví agus chuaigh i ngleic leis.
17 Y como fué dado aviso á David, juntó á todo Israel, y pasando el Jordán vino á Helam: y los Siros se pusieron en orden contra David, y pelearon con él.
17 Da das David ward angesagt, sammelte er zuhauf das ganze Israel und zog über den Jordan und kam gen Helam. Und die Syrer stellten sich wider David, mit ihm zu streiten.
18 And the Aramaeans went in flight before Israel; and David put to the sword the men of seven hundred Aramaean war-carriages and forty thousand footmen, and Shobach, the captain of the army, was wounded, and came to his death there.
18 Mais les Syriens s'enfuirent devant Israël. Et David leur tua les troupes de sept cents chars et quarante mille cavaliers; il frappa aussi le chef de leur armée, Schobac, qui mourut sur place.
18 Theith na hAramaeigh ó Iosrael, agus mharaigh Dáiví seacht gcéad dá bhfoirne carbaid agus daichead míle marcach; threascair sé Seobác a gceann feadhna freisin agus fuair sé bás ar an toirt.
18 Mas los Siros huyeron delante de Israel: é hirió David de los Siros la gente de setecientos carros, y cuarenta mil hombres de á caballo: hirió también á Sobach general del ejército, y murió allí.
18 Aber die Syrer flohen vor Israel. Und David verderbte der Syrer siebenhundert Wagen und vierzigtausend Reiter; dazu Sobach, den Feldhauptmann, schlug er, daß er daselbst starb.
19 And when all the kings who were servants of Hadadezer saw that they were overcome by Israel, they made peace with Israel and became their servants. So the Aramaeans, in fear, gave no more help to the children of Ammon.
19 Tous les rois soumis à Hadadézer, se voyant battus par Israël, firent la paix avec Israël et lui furent assujettis. Et les Syriens n'osèrent plus secourir les fils d'Ammon.
19 Nuair a chonaic na ríthe go léir a thug géillsine do Hadad Eizir go raibh buaite orthu ag Iosrael, rinneadar síocháin le hIosrael, agus ghéilleadar dóibh. B'eagal leis na hAramaeigh cabhrú leis na hAmónaigh a thuilleadh.
19 Viendo pues todos los reyes que asistían á Hadad-ezer, como habían ellos sido derrotados delante de Israel, hicieron paz con Israel, y sirviéronle; y de allí adelante temieron los Siros de socorrer á los hijos de Ammón.
19 Da aber die Könige, die unter Hadadeser waren, sahen, daß sie geschlagen waren vor Israel, machten sie Frieden mit Israel und wurden ihnen untertan. Und die Syrer fürchteten sich, den Kindern Ammon mehr zu helfen.
