1 Now Abimelech, the son of Jerubbaal, went to Shechem to his mother's family, and said to them and to all the family of his mother's father,

2 Say now in the ears of all the townsmen of Shechem, Is it better for you to be ruled by all the seventy sons of Jerubbaal or by one man only? And keep in mind that I am your bone and your flesh.
2 Dites, je vous prie, aux oreilles de tous les habitants de Sichem: Vaut-il mieux pour vous que soixante-dix hommes, tous fils de Jerubbaal, dominent sur vous, ou qu'un seul homme domine sur vous? Et souvenez-vous que je suis votre os et votre chair.

3 So his mother's family said all this about him in the ears of all the townsmen of Shechem: and their hearts were turned to Abimelech, for they said, He is our brother.
3 Les frères de sa mère répétèrent pour lui toutes ces paroles aux oreilles de tous les habitants de Sichem, et leur coeur inclina en faveur d'Abimélec, car ils se disaient: C'est notre frère.

3 Y hablaron por él los hermanos de su madre á oídos de todos los de Sichêm todas estas palabras: y el corazón de ellos se inclinó en favor de Abimelech, porque decían: Nuestro hermano es.

4 And they gave him seventy shekels of silver from the house of Baal-berith, with which Abimelech got the support of a number of uncontrolled and good-for-nothing persons.

5 Then he went to his father's house at Ophrah, and put his brothers, the seventy sons of Jerubbaal, to death on the same stone; however, Jotham, the youngest, kept himself safe by going away to a secret place.
5 Il vint dans la maison de son père à Ophra, et il tua ses frères, fils de Jerubbaal, soixante-dix hommes, sur une même pierre. Il n'échappa que Jotham, le plus jeune fils de Jerubbaal, car il s'était caché.

5 Y viniendo á la casa de su padre en Ophra, mató á sus hermanos los hijos de Jerobaal, setenta varones, sobre una piedra: mas quedó Jotham, el más pequeño hijo de Jerobaal, que se escondió.
5 Und er kam in seines Vaters Haus gen Ophra und erwürgte seine Brüder, die Kinder Jerubbaals, siebzig Mann, auf einem Stein. Es blieb aber übrig Jotham, der jüngste Sohn Jerubbaals; denn er war versteckt.
6 And all the townsmen of Shechem and all Beth-millo came together and went and made Abimelech their king, by the oak of the pillar in Shechem.
6 Tous les habitants de Sichem et toute la maison de Millo se rassemblèrent; ils vinrent, et proclamèrent roi Abimélec, près du chêne planté dans Sichem.

6 Und es versammelten sich alle Männer von Sichem und das ganze Haus Millo, gingen hin und machten Abimelech zum König bei der hohen Eiche, die zu Sichem steht.
7 Now Jotham, on hearing of it, went to the top of Mount Gerizim, and crying out with a loud voice said to them, Give ear to me, you townsmen of Shechem, so that God may give ear to you.
7 Jotham en fut informé. Il alla se placer sur le sommet de la montagne de Garizim, et voici ce qu'il leur cria à haute voix: Écoutez-moi, habitants de Sichem, et que Dieu vous écoute!

8 One day the trees went out to make a king for themselves; and they said to the olive-tree, Be king over us.
8 Les arbres partirent pour aller oindre un roi et le mettre à leur tête. Ils dirent à l'olivier: Règne sur nous.

8 Fueron los árboles á elegir rey sobre sí, y dijeron á la oliva: Reina sobre nosotros.
8 Die Bäume gingen hin, daß sie einen König über sich salbten, und sprachen zu dem Ölbaum: Sei unser König!
9 But the olive-tree said to them, Am I to give up my wealth of oil, by which men give honour to God, and go waving over the trees?
9 Mais l'olivier leur répondit: Renoncerais-je à mon huile, qui m'assure les hommages de Dieu et des hommes, pour aller planer sur les arbres?
9 Dúirt an crann olóige leo, ámh: ‘An amhlaidh a thréigfidh mise mo mhéathras, Lena dtugtar onóir do Dhia agus do dhaoine Chun a bheith i réim ar na crainn?’
9 Mas la oliva respondió: ¿Tengo de dejar mi pingüe jugo, con el que por mi causa Dios y los hombres son honrados, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?
9 Aber der Ölbaum antwortete ihnen: Soll ich meine Fettigkeit lassen, die beide, Götter und Menschen, an mir preisen, und hingehen, daß ich schwebe über den Bäumen?
10 Then the trees said to the fig-tree, You come and be king over us.

11 But the fig-tree said to them, Am I to give up my sweet taste and my good fruit and go waving over the trees?
11 Mais le figuier leur répondit: Renoncerais-je à ma douceur et à mon excellent fruit, pour aller planer sur les arbres?
11 Dúirt an crann figí leo, ámh: ‘An amhlaidh a thréigfidh mise mo mhilseacht Agus mo dhea-thoradh Chun a bheith i réim ar na crainn?’
11 Y respondió la higuera: ¿Tengo de dejar mi dulzura y mi buen fruto, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?
11 Aber der Feigenbaum sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich meine Süßigkeit und meine gute Frucht lassen und hingehen, daß ich über den Bäumen schwebe?
12 Then the trees said to the vine, You come and be king over us.

13 But the vine said to them, Am I to give up my wine, which makes glad God and men, to go waving over the trees?
13 Mais la vigne leur répondit: Renoncerais-je à mon vin, qui réjouit Dieu et les hommes, pour aller planer sur les arbres?
13 Ach d'fhreagair an fhiniúin iad: ‘An amhlaidh a thréigfidh mise m'fhíon A chuireann áthas croí ar Dhia agus ar dhaoine D'fhonn bheith i réim ar na crainn?’
13 Y la vid les respondió: ¿Tengo de dejar mi mosto, que alegra á Dios y á los hombres, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?
13 Aber der Weinstock sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich meinen Most lassen, der Götter und Menschen fröhlich macht, und hingehen, daß ich über den Bäumen schwebe?
14 Then all the trees said to the thorn, You come and be king over us.

15 And the thorn said to the trees, If it is truly your desire to make me your king, then come and put your faith in my shade; and if not, may fire come out of the thorn, burning up the cedars of Lebanon.
15 Et le buisson d'épines répondit aux arbres: Si c'est de bonne foi que vous voulez m'oindre pour votre roi, venez, réfugiez-vous sous mon ombrage; sinon, un feu sortira du buisson d'épines, et dévorera les cèdres du Liban.
15 Ach dúirt an dris leis na crainn: ‘Más mian libh dáiríre mise a ungadh i mo rí oraibh féin, Tagaigí ar scáth mo ghéag; É sin nó tagadh tine as an dris Agus loisceadh sí céadrais na Liobáine.’
15 Y el escaramujo respondió á los árboles: Si en verdad me elegís por rey sobre vosotros, venid, y aseguraos debajo de mi sombra: y si no, fuego salga del escaramujo que devore los cedros del Líbano.
15 Und der Dornbusch sprach zu den Bäumen: Ist's wahr, daß ihr mich zum König salbt über euch, so kommt und vertraut euch unter meinen Schatten; wo nicht, so gehe Feuer aus dem Dornbusch und verzehre die Zedern Libanons.
16 So now, if you have done truly and uprightly in making Abimelech king, and if you have done well to Jerubbaal and his house in reward for the work of his hands;
16 Maintenant, est-ce de bonne foi et avec intégrité que vous avez agi en proclamant roi Abimélec? avez-vous eu de la bienveillance pour Jerubbaal et sa maison? l'avez-vous traité selon les services qu'il a rendus? -
16 “Dá réir sin, más le dea-intinn agus le hionracas a rinne sibh rí d'Aibímeilic, agus má bhí sibh go cóir cothrom le Iarubál agus lena theaghlach, agus má chúitigh sibh leis de réir mar a thuill a bheartasan -
16 Ahora pues, si con verdad y con integridad habéis procedido en hacer rey á Abimelech, y si lo habéis hecho bien con Jerobaal y con su casa, y si le habéis pagado conforme á la obra de sus manos;
16 Habt ihr nun recht und redlich getan, daß ihr Abimelech zum König gemacht habt; und habt ihr wohl getan an Jerubbaal und an seinem Hause und habt ihm getan, wie er um euch verdient hat
17 (For my father made war for you, and put his life in danger, and made you free from the hands of Midian;
17 Car mon père a combattu pour vous, il a exposé sa vie, et il vous a délivrés de la main de Madian;
17 throid m'athair ar bhur son, chuir sé a anam i bhfiontar, agus d'fhuascail sé sibh ó láimh Mhidián;

17 (denn mein Vater hat gestritten um euretwillen und seine Seele dahingeworfen von sich, daß er euch errettete von der Midianiter Hand;
18 And you have gone against my father's family this day, and have put to death his sons, even seventy men on one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his servant-wife, king over the townsmen of Shechem because he is your brother;)
18 et vous, vous vous êtes levés contre la maison de mon père, vous avez tué ses fils, soixante-dix hommes, sur une même pierre, et vous avez proclamé roi sur les habitants de Sichem, Abimélec, fils de sa servante, parce qu'il est votre frère. -

18 Y vosotros os levantasteis hoy contra la casa de mi padre, y matasteis sus hijos, setenta varones, sobre una piedra; y habéis puesto por rey sobre los de Sichêm á Abimelech, hijo de su criada, por cuanto es vuestro hermano:)
18 und ihr lehnt euch auf heute wider meines Vaters Haus und erwürgt seine Kinder, siebzig Mann, auf einem Stein und macht euch Abimelech, seiner Magd Sohn, zum König über die Männer zu Sichem, weil er euer Bruder ist);
19 If then you have done what is true and upright to Jerubbaal and his family this day, may you have joy in Abimelech, and may he have joy in you;
19 Si c'est de bonne foi et avec intégrité qu'en ce jour vous avez agi envers Jerubbaal et sa maison, eh bien! qu'Abimélec fasse votre joie, et que vous fassiez aussi la sienne!

19 Si con verdad y con integridad habéis obrado hoy con Jerobaal y con su casa, que gocéis de Abimelech, y él goce de vosotros.
19 und habt ihr nun recht und redlich gehandelt an Jerubbaal und an seinem Hause an diesem Tage: so seid fröhlich über Abimelech und er sei fröhlich über euch;
20 But if not, may fire come out from Abimelech, burning up the townsmen of Shechem and Beth-millo; and may fire come out from the townsmen of Shechem and Beth-millo, for the destruction of Abimelech.
20 Sinon, qu'un feu sorte d'Abimélec et dévore les habitants de Sichem et la maison de Millo, et qu'un feu sorte des habitants de Sichem et de la maison de Millo et dévore Abimélec!

20 Y si no, fuego salga de Abimelech, que consuma á los de Sichêm y á la casa de Millo; y fuego salga de los de Sichêm y de la casa de Millo, que consuma á Abimelech.
20 wo nicht, so gehe Feuer aus von Abimelech und verzehre die Männer zu Sichem und das Haus Millo, und gehe auch Feuer aus von den Männern zu Sichem und vom Haus Millo und verzehre Abimelech.
21 Then Jotham straight away went in flight to Beer, and was living there for fear of his brother Abimelech.

22 So Abimelech was chief over Israel for three years.

23 And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the townsmen of Shechem; and the townsmen of Shechem were false to Abimelech;
23 Alors Dieu envoya un mauvais esprit entre Abimélec et les habitants de Sichem, et les habitants de Sichem furent infidèles à Abimélec,
23 Ansin sheol Dia drochspiorad aighnis idir Aibímeilic agus ceannairí Sheicim, agus rinne ceannairí Sheicim ceannairc in aghaidh Aibímeilic.
23 Envió Dios un espíritu malo entre Abimelech y los hombres de Sichêm: que los de Sichêm se levantaron contra Abimelech:
23 sandte Gott einen bösen Willen zwischen Abimelech und den Männern zu Sichem. Und die Männer zu Sichem wurden Abimelech untreu,
24 So that punishment for the violent attack made on the seventy sons of Jerubbaal, and for their blood, might come on Abimelech, their brother, who put them to death, and on the townsmen of Shechem who gave him their help in putting his brothers to death.
24 afin que la violence commise sur les soixante-dix fils de Jerubbaal reçût son châtiment, et que leur sang retombât sur Abimélec, leur frère, qui les avait tués, et sur les habitants de Sichem, qui l'avaient aidé à tuer ses frères.

24 Para que el agravio de los setenta hijos de Jerobaal, y la sangre de ellos, viniera á ponerse sobre Abimelech su hermano que los mató, y sobre los hombres de Sichêm que corroboraron las manos de él para matar á sus hermanos.
24 auf daß der Frevel, an den siebzig Söhnen Jerubbaals begangen, und ihr Blut käme auf Abimelech, ihren Bruder, der sie erwürgt hatte, und auf die Männer zu Sichem, die ihm seine Hand dazu gestärkt hatten, daß er seine Brüder erwürgte.
25 And the townsmen of Shechem put secret watchers on the tops of the mountains, and they made attacks on all who went by on the road and took their goods; and word of this came to Abimelech.
25 Les habitants de Sichem placèrent en embuscade contre lui, sur les sommets des montagnes, des gens qui dépouillaient tous ceux qui passaient près d'eux sur le chemin. Et cela fut rapporté à Abimélec.

25 Y pusiéronle los de Sichêm asechadores en las cumbres de los montes, los cuales salteaban á todos los que pasaban junto á ellos por el camino; de lo que fué dado aviso á Abimelech.
25 Und die Männer zu Sichem stellten einen Hinterhalt auf den Spitzen der Berge und beraubten alle, die auf der Straße zu ihnen wandelten. Und es ward Abimelech angesagt.
26 Then Gaal, the son of Ebed, came with his brothers, and went over to Shechem; and the men of Shechem put their faith in him.
26 Gaal, fils d'Ébed, vint avec ses frères, et ils passèrent à Sichem. Les habitants de Sichem eurent confiance en lui.
26 Tháinig Gál mac Eibid agus a ghaolta isteach i Seicim agus thug ceannairí Sheicim a n‑iontaobh leis.
26 Y Gaal hijo de Ebed vino con sus hermanos, y pasáronse á Sichêm: y los de Sichêm se confiaron en él.
26 Es kam aber Gaal, der Sohn Ebeds, und seine Brüder und zogen zu Sichem ein. Und die Männer von Sichem verließen sich auf ihn
27 And they went out into their fields and got in the fruit of their vines, and when the grapes had been crushed, they made a holy feast and went into the house of their god, and over their food and drink they were cursing Abimelech.
27 Ils sortirent dans la campagne, vendangèrent leurs vignes, foulèrent les raisins, et se livrèrent à des réjouissances; ils entrèrent dans la maison de leur dieu, ils mangèrent et burent, et ils maudirent Abimélec.

27 Y saliendo al campo, vendimiaron sus viñas, y pisaron la uva, é hicieron alegrías; y entrando en el templo de sus dioses, comieron y bebieron, y maldijeron á Abimelech.
27 und zogen heraus aufs Feld und lasen ab ihre Weinberge und kelterten und machten einen Tanz und gingen in ihres Gottes Haus und aßen und tranken und fluchten dem Abimelech.
28 And Gaal, the son of Ebed, said, Who is Abimelech and who is Shechem, that we are to be his servants? Is it not right for the son of Jerubbaal and Zebul his captain to be servants to the men of Hamor, the father of Shechem? But why are we to be his servants?
28 Et Gaal, fils d'Ébed, disait: Qui est Abimélec, et qu'est Sichem, pour que nous servions Abimélec? N'est-il pas fils de Jerubbaal, et Zebul n'est-il pas son commissaire? Servez les hommes de Hamor, père de Sichem; mais nous, pourquoi servirions-nous Abimélec?
28 Dúirt Gál mac Eibid: “Cé he Aibímeilic, seachas sinne, muintir Sheicim, a rá is go ndéanfaimis fónamh dó? Nár chirte do mhac Iarubál agus Zabul, a leagáid, fónamh do mhuintir Hamór, athair Sheicim? Cén fáth go mbeimis inar ndaoir aige?
28 Y Gaal hijo de Ebed dijo: ¿Quién es Abimelech y qué es Sichêm, para que nosotros á él sirvamos? ¿no es hijo de Jerobaal? ¿y no es Zebul su asistente? Servid á los varones de Hemor padre de Sichêm: mas ¿por qué habíamos de servir á él?
28 Und Gaal, der Sohn Ebeds, sprach: Wer ist Abimelech, und was ist Sichem, daß wir ihm dienen sollten? Ist er nicht Jerubbaals Sohn und hat Sebul, seinen Knecht, hergesetzt? Dienet den Leuten Hemors, des Vaters Sichems! Warum sollten wir jenen dienen?
29 If only I had authority over this people! I would put Abimelech out of the way, and I would say to Abimelech, Make your army strong, and come out.
29 Oh! si j'étais le maître de ce peuple, je renverserais Abimélec. Et il disait d'Abimélec: Renforce ton armée, mets-toi en marche!

29 Fuérame dado este pueblo bajo de mi mano, yo echaría luego á Abimelech. Y decía á Abimelech: Aumenta tus escuadrones, y sal.
29 Wollte Gott, das Volk wäre unter meiner Hand, daß ich Abimelech vertriebe! Und es ward Abimelech gesagt: Mehre dein Heer und zieh aus!
30 Now Zebul, the ruler of the town, hearing what Gaal, the son of Ebed, had said, was moved to wrath.
30 Zebul, gouverneur de la ville, apprit ce que disait Gaal, fils d'Ébed, et sa colère s'enflamma.
30 Nuair a chuala Zabul rialtóir na cathrach focail Ghál mac Eibid d'adhain a fhearg.

31 And he sent to Abimelech at Arumah, saying, See, Gaal, the son of Ebed, and his brothers have come to Shechem, and they are working up the town against you.
31 Il envoya secrètement des messagers à Abimélec, pour lui dire: Voici, Gaal, fils d'Ébed, et ses frères, sont venus à Sichem, et ils soulèvent la ville contre toi.

32 So now, get up by night, you and your people, and keep watch in the field secretly;

33 And in the morning, when the sun is up, get up early and make a rush on the town; and when he and his people come out against you, do to them whatever you have a chance to do.

34 So Abimelech and the people with him got up by night, in four bands, to make a surprise attack on Shechem.

35 And Gaal, the son of Ebed, went out, and took his place at the doorway into the town; then Abimelech and his people got up from the place where they had been waiting.
35 Gaal, fils d'Ébed, sortit, et il se tint à l'entrée de la porte de la ville. Abimélec et tout le peuple qui était avec lui se levèrent alors de l'embuscade.
35 Ghabh Gál mac Eibid amach agus mhoilligh ag béal gheata na cathrach; agus d'éirigh Aibímeilic agus a lucht leanúna as láithreacha eadarnaí.
35 Y Gaal hijo de Ebed salió, y púsose á la entrada de la puerta de la ciudad: y Abimelech y todo el pueblo que con él estaba, se levantaron de la emboscada.
35 Und Gaal, der Sohn Ebeds, zog heraus und trat vor die Tür an der Stadt Tor. Aber Abimelech machte sich auf aus dem Hinterhalt samt dem Volk, das mit ihm war.
36 And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, See! people are coming down from the tops of the mountains. And Zebul said to him, You see the shade of the mountains like men.
36 Gaal aperçut le peuple, et il dit à Zebul: Voici un peuple qui descend du sommet des montagnes. Zebul lui répondit: C'est l'ombre des montagnes que tu prends pour des hommes.

37 And Gaal said again, See! people are coming down from the middle of the land, and one band is coming by way of the oak-tree of the Seers.

38 Then Zebul said to him, Now where is your loud talk when you said, Who is Abimelech that we are to be his servants? Is this not the people whom you were rating so low? Go out now, and make war on them.
38 Zebul lui répondit: Où donc est ta bouche, toi qui disais: Qui est Abimélec, pour que nous le servions? N'est-ce point là le peuple que tu méprisais? Marche maintenant, livre-lui bataille!

38 Y Zebul le respondió: ¿Dónde está ahora aquel tu hablar, diciendo; Quién es Abimelech para que le sirvamos? ¿No es este el pueblo que tenías en poco? Sal pues ahora, y pelea con él.

39 So Gaal went out at the head of the townsmen of Shechem and made war on Abimelech.

40 And Abimelech went after him and he went in flight before him; and a great number were falling by the sword all the way up to the town.
40 Poursuivi par Abimélec, il prit la fuite devant lui, et beaucoup d'hommes tombèrent morts jusqu'à l'entrée de la porte.

41 Then Abimelech went back to Arumah; and Zebul sent Gaal and his brothers away and would not let them go on living in Shechem.

41 Y Abimilech se quedó en Aruma; y Zebul echó fuera á Gaal y á sus hermanos, para que no morasen en Sichêm.

42 Now the day after, the people went out into the fields; and news of it came to Abimelech.

43 And he took his people, separating them into three bands, and was waiting secretly in the field; and when he saw the people coming out of the town, he went up and made an attack on them.

44 And Abimelech with his band made a rush, and took up their position at the doorway into the town; and the other two bands made a rush on all those who were in the fields, and overcame them.
44 Abimélec et les corps qui étaient avec lui se portèrent en avant, et se placèrent à l'entrée de la porte de la ville; deux de ces corps se jetèrent sur tous ceux qui étaient dans la campagne, et les battirent.

44 Pues Abimelech y el escuadrón que estaba con él, acometieron con ímpetu, y pararon á la entrada de la puerta de la ciudad; y las dos compañías acometieron á todos los que estaban en el campo, y los hirieron.
44 Abimelech aber und die Haufen, die bei ihm waren, überfielen sie und traten an die Tür des Stadttors; und zwei der Haufen überfielen alle, die auf dem Felde waren, und schlugen sie.
45 And all that day Abimelech was fighting against the town; and he took it, and put to death the people who were in it, and had the town pulled down and covered with salt.
45 Abimélec attaqua la ville pendant toute la journée; il s'en empara, et tua le peuple qui s'y trouvait. Puis il rasa la ville, et y sema du sel.

45 Y después de combatir Abimelech la ciudad todo aquel día, tomóla, y mató el pueblo que en ella estaba, y asoló la ciudad, y sembróla de sal.
45 Da stritt Abimelech wider die Stadt denselben Tag und gewann sie und erwürgte das Volk, das darin war, und zerbrach die Stadt und säte Salz darauf.
46 Then all the townsmen of the tower of Shechem, hearing of it, went into the inner room of the house of El-berith.

47 And word was given to Abimelech that all the men of the tower of Shechem were there together.

48 Then Abimelech went up to Mount Zalmon, with all his people; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand and, cutting down branches of trees, took them and put them on his back. And he said to the people who were with him, Be quick and do as you have seen me do.
48 Alors Abimélec monta sur la montagne de Tsalmon, lui et tout le peuple qui était avec lui. Il prit en main une hache, coupa une branche d'arbre, l'enleva et la mit sur son épaule. Ensuite il dit au peuple qui était avec lui: Vous avez vu ce que j'ai fait, hâtez-vous de faire comme moi.

48 Entonces subió Abimelech al monte de Salmón, él y toda la gente que con él estaba; y tomó Abimelech un hacha en su mano, y cortó una rama de los árboles, y levantándola púsosela sobre sus hombros, diciendo al pueblo que estaba con él: Lo que me veis á mí que hago, haced vosotros prestamente como yo.
48 ging er auf den Berg Zalmon mit allem seinem Volk, das bei ihm war und nahm eine Axt in seine Hand und hieb einen Ast von den Bäumen und legte ihn auf seine Achsel und sprach zu allem Volk, das mit ihm war: Was ihr gesehen habt, daß ich tue, das tut auch ihr eilend wie ich.
49 So all the people got branches, every man cutting down a branch, and they went with Abimelech at their head and, massing the branches against the inner room, put fire to the room over them; so all those who were in the tower of Shechem, about a thousand men and women, were burned to death with it.
49 Et ils coupèrent chacun une branche, et suivirent Abimélec; ils placèrent les branches contre la forteresse, et l'incendièrent avec ceux qui y étaient. Ainsi périrent tous les gens de la tour de Sichem, au nombre d'environ mille, hommes et femmes.

49 Y así todo el pueblo cortó también cada uno su rama, y siguieron á Abimelech, y pusiéronlas junto á la fortaleza, y prendieron fuego con ellas á la fortaleza: por manera que todos los de la torre de Sichêm murieron, como unos mil hombres y mujeres.

51 But in the middle of the town there was a strong tower, to which all the men and women of the town went in flight and, shutting themselves in, went up to the roof of the tower.
51 Il y avait au milieu de la ville une forte tour, où se réfugièrent tous les habitants de la ville, hommes et femmes; ils fermèrent sur eux, et montèrent sur le toit de la tour.

51 En medio de aquella ciudad había una torre fuerte, á la cual se retiraron todos los hombres y mujeres, y todos los señores de la ciudad; y cerrando tras sí las puertas, subiéronse al piso alto de la torre.
51 Es war aber ein starker Turm mitten in der Stadt. Auf den flohen alle Männer und Weiber und alle Bürger der Stadt und schlossen hinter sich zu und stiegen auf das Dach des Turms.
52 And Abimelech came to the tower and made an attack on it, and got near to the door of the tower for the purpose of firing it.
52 Abimélec parvint jusqu'à la tour; il l'attaqua, et s'approcha de la porte pour y mettre le feu.
52 Tháinig Aibímeilic chun an túir, agus d'ionsaigh é. Nuair a bhí sé ag déanamh ar dhoras an túir chun é a chur trí thine,
52 Y vino Abimelech á la torre, y combatiéndola, llegóse á la puerta de la torre para pegarle fuego.
52 Da kam Abimelech zum Turm und stritt dawider und nahte sich zur Tür des Turms, daß er ihn mit Feuer verbrannte.
53 But a certain woman sent a great stone, such as is used for crushing grain, on to the head of Abimelech, cracking the bone.
53 Alors une femme lança sur la tête d'Abimélec un morceau de meule de moulin, et lui brisa le crâne.
53 chaith bean éigin bró uachtair mhuillinn anuas sa mhullach air agus bhris a bhlaosc.
53 Mas una mujer dejó caer un pedazo de una rueda de molino sobre la cabeza de Abimelech, y quebróle los cascos.
53 Aber ein Weib warf einen Mühlstein Abimelech auf den Kopf und zerbrach ihm den Schädel.
54 Then quickly crying out to his body-servant, he said to him, Take out your sword and put an end to me straight away, so that men may not say of me, His death was the work of a woman. So the young man put his sword through him, causing his death.
54 Aussitôt il appela le jeune homme qui portait ses armes, et lui dit: Tire ton épée, et donne-moi la mort, de peur qu'on ne dise de moi: C'est une femme qui l'a tué. Le jeune homme le perça, et il mourut.

54 Y luego llamó él á su escudero, y díjole: Saca tu espada y mátame, porque no se diga de mí: Una mujer lo mató. Y su escudero le atravesó, y murió.
54 Da rief Abimelech eilend dem Diener, der seine Waffen trug, und sprach zu ihm: Zieh dein Schwert aus und töte mich, daß man nicht von mir sage: Ein Weib hat ihn erwürgt. Da durchstach ihn sein Diener, und er starb.
55 And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they went away, every man to his place.
55 Quand les hommes d'Israël virent qu'Abimélec était mort, ils s'en allèrent chacun chez soi.

55 Y como los Israelitas vieron muerto á Abimelech, fuéronse cada uno á su casa.

56 In this way Abimelech was rewarded by God for the evil he had done to his father in putting his seventy brothers to death;

57 And God sent back on to the heads of the men of Shechem all the evil they had done, and the curse of Jotham, the son of Jerubbaal, came on them.
57 et Dieu fit retomber sur la tête des gens de Sichem tout le mal qu'ils avaient fait. Ainsi s'accomplit sur eux la malédiction de Jotham, fils de Jerubbaal.

57 Y aun todo el mal de los hombres de Sichêm tornó Dios sobre sus cabezas: y la maldición de Jotham, hijo de Jerobaal, vino sobre ellos.
57 desgleichen alles Übel der Männer Sichems vergalt ihnen Gott auf ihren Kopf, und es kam über sie der Fluch Jothams, des Sohnes Serubbaals.
