1 Then Joshua, the son of Nun, sent two men from Shittim secretly, with the purpose of searching out the land, and Jericho. So they went and came to the house of a loose woman of the town, named Rahab, where they took their rest for the night.
1 Josué, fils de Nun, fit partir secrètement de Sittim deux espions, en leur disant: Allez, examinez le pays, et en particulier Jéricho. Ils partirent, et ils arrivèrent dans la maison d'une prostituée, qui se nommait Rahab, et ils y couchèrent.
1 Sheol Iósua mac Nún beirt fhear faoi choim ó Shitim mar spiairí á rá leo: “Ar aghaidh libh, breathnaígí an dúiche, go háirithe Ireachó.” Ar aghaidh leo agus chuadar isteach i dteach striapaí darbh ainm Rácháb, agus chuireadar fúthu ann.
1 Y Josué, hijo de Nun, envió desde Sittim dos espías secretamente, diciéndoles: Andad, reconoced la tierra, y á Jericó. Los cuales fueron, y entráronse en casa de una mujer ramera que se llamaba Rahab, y posaron allí.
1 Josua aber, der Sohn Nuns, hatte zwei Kundschafter heimlich ausgesandt von Sittim und ihnen gesagt: Geht hin, beseht das Land und Jericho. Die gingen hin und kamen in das Haus einer Hure, die hieß Rahab, und kehrten zu ihr ein.
2 And it was said to the king of Jericho, See, some men have come here tonight from the children of Israel with the purpose of searching out the land.
2 On dit au roi de Jéricho: Voici, des hommes d'entre les enfants d'Israël sont arrivés ici, cette nuit, pour explorer le pays.
2 Tugadh scéala go rí Ireachó: “Féach, tá fir tagtha anseo anocht ó Iosrael chun an tír a bhrath.”
2 Y fué dado aviso al rey de Jericó, diciendo: He aquí que hombres de los hijos de Israel han venido aquí esta noche á espiar la tierra.
2 Da ward dem König von Jericho gesagt: Siehe, es sind in dieser Nacht Männer hereingekommen von den Kindern Israel, das Land zu erkunden.
3 Then the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, Send out the men who have come to you and are in your house; for they have come with the purpose of searching out all the land.
3 Le roi de Jéricho envoya dire à Rahab: Fais sortir les hommes qui sont venus chez toi, qui sont entrés dans ta maison; car c'est pour explorer tout le pays qu'ils sont venus.
3 Ansin chuir rí Ireachó scéal go Rácháb á rá: “Tabhair amach na fir a tháinig chugat, agus a chuaigh i do theach isteach, mar is chun an tír go léir a bhrath a thángadar.”
3 Entonces el rey de Jericó, envió á decir á Rahab: Saca fuera los hombres que han venido á ti, y han entrado en tu casa; porque han venido á espiar toda la tierra.
3 Da sandte der König zu Jericho zu Rahab und ließ ihr sagen: Gib die Männer heraus, die zu dir in dein Haus gekommen sind; denn sie sind gekommen, das ganze Land zu erkunden.
4 And the woman took the two men and put them in a secret place; then she said, Yes, the men came to me, but I had no idea where they came from;
4 La femme prit les deux hommes, et les cacha; et elle dit: Il est vrai que ces hommes sont arrivés chez moi, mais je ne savais pas d'où ils étaient;
4 Ach bhí an bheirt glactha chuici ag an mbean agus ceilte aici; dúirt sí dá bhrí sin: “Sea, tháinig fir chugam go deimhin, ach níorbh eol dom cárbh as dóibh
4 Mas la mujer había tomado los dos hombres, y los había escondido; y dijo: Verdad que hombres vinieron á mí, mas no supe de dónde eran:
4 Aber das Weib verbarg die zwei Männer und sprach also: Es sind ja Männer zu mir hereingekommen; aber ich wußte nicht, woher sie waren.
5 And when it was the time for shutting the doors at dark, they went out; I have no idea where the men went: but if you go after them quickly, you will overtake them.
5 et, comme la porte a dû se fermer de nuit, ces hommes sont sortis; j'ignore où ils sont allés: hâtez-vous de les poursuivre et vous les atteindrez.
5 agus nuair a bhí an geata le dúnadh le titim na hoíche, d'imíodar leo amach. Ní fheadar cár ghabh na fir; téigí sa tóir orthu go tapa mar béarfaidh sibh orthu.”
5 Y al cerrarse la puerta, siendo ya oscuro, esos hombres se salieron, y no sé á dónde se han ido: seguidlos apriesa, que los alcanzaréis.
5 Und da man die Tore wollte zuschließen, da es finster war, gingen sie hinaus, daß ich nicht weiß, wo sie hingegangen sind. Jagt ihnen eilend nach, denn ihr werdet sie ergreifen.
6 But she had taken them up to the roof, covering them with the stems of flax which she had put out in order there.
6 Elle les avait fait monter sur le toit, et les avait cachés sous des tiges de lin, qu'elle avait arrangées sur le toit.
6 Ach thug sí suas ar dhíon an tí iad agus chuir i bhfolach iad faoi ghasa lín a bhí leagtha ina sraitheanna aici ar an díon.
6 Mas ella los había hecho subir al terrado, y habíalos escondido entre tascos de lino que en aquel terrado tenía puestos.
6 Sie aber ließ sie auf das Dach steigen und verdeckte sie unter die Flachsstengel, die sie auf dem Dache ausgebreitet hatte.
7 So the men went after them on the road to Jordan as far as the river-crossing: and when they had gone out after them, the door into the town was shut.
7 Ces gens les poursuivirent par le chemin qui mène au gué du Jourdain, et l'on ferma la porte après qu'ils furent sortis.
7 Chuaigh na fir sa tóir orthu ar feadh na slí chun na Iordáine chomh fada leis na háthanna. A luaithe a d'imigh an tóir amach, dúnadh an geata.
7 Y los hombres fueron tras ellos por el camino del Jordán, hasta los vados: y la puerta fué cerrada después que salieron los que tras ellos iban.
7 Aber die Männer jagten ihnen nach auf dem Wege zum Jordan bis an die Furt; und man schloß das Tor zu, da die hinaus waren, die ihnen nachjagten.
8 And before the men went to rest, she came up to them on the roof,
8 Avant que les espions se couchassent, Rahab monta vers eux sur le toit
8 Sula ndeachaigh an dream eile a luí, tháinig sí aníos ar an díon chucu
8 Mas antes que ellos durmiesen, ella subió á ellos al terrado, y díjoles:
8 Und ehe denn die Männer sich schlafen legten, stieg sie zu ihnen hinauf auf das Dach
9 And said to them, It is clear to me that the Lord has given you the land, and that the fear of you has come on us;
9 et leur dit: L'Éternel, je le sais, vous a donné ce pays, la terreur que vous inspirez nous a saisis, et tous les habitants du pays tremblent devant vous.
9 agus dúirt sí leis na fir: “Tá a fhios agam gur thug an Tiarna an tír daoibh agus gur bhuail scanradh sinn romhaibh, agus gur thit an lug ar an lag ar dhúchasaigh na tíre romhaibh.
9 Sé que Jehová os ha dado esta tierra; porque el temor de vosotros ha caído sobre nosotros, y todos los moradores del país están desmayados por causa de vosotros;
9 und sprach zu ihnen: Ich weiß, daß der HERR euch das Land gegeben hat; denn ein Schrecken ist über uns gefallen vor euch, und alle Einwohner des Landes sind feig geworden.
10 For we have had news of how the Lord made the Red Sea dry before you when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, on the other side of Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you gave up to the curse.
10 Car nous avons appris comment, à votre sortie d'Égypte, l'Éternel a mis à sec devant vous les eaux de la mer Rouge, et comment vous avez traité les deux rois des Amoréens au delà du Jourdain, Sihon et Og, que vous avez dévoués par interdit.
10 Óir chualamar conas mar a thriomaigh an Tiarna uiscí Mhuir na nGiolcach romhaibh nuair a tháinig sibh as an Éigipt amach, agus cad a rinne sibh le beirt rí na nAmórach thar Iordáin thall, Síochon agus Óg; scrios sibh iad faoin mbang.
10 Porque hemos oído que Jehová hizo secar las aguas del mar Bermejo delante de vosotros, cuando salisteis de Egipto, y lo que habéis hecho á los dos reyes de los Amorrheos que estaban de la parte allá del Jordán, á Sehón y á Og, á los cuales habéis destruído.
10 Denn wir haben gehört, wie der HERR hat das Wasser im Schilfmeer ausgetrocknet vor euch her, da ihr aus Ägypten zoget, und was ihr den zwei Königen der Amoriter, Sihon und Og, jenseit des Jordans getan habt, wie ihr sie verbannt habt.
11 And because of this news, our hearts became like water, and there was no more spirit in any of us because of you; for the Lord your God is God in heaven on high and here on earth.
11 Nous l'avons appris, et nous avons perdu courage, et tous nos esprits sont abattus à votre aspect; car c'est l'Éternel, votre Dieu, qui est Dieu en haut dans les cieux et en bas sur la terre.
11 A luaithe a chualamar an scéal, thit an lug ar an lag againn, agus níor fhan misneach ag aon duine de bhur mbarr; óir sé an Tiarna bhur nDia, is Dia ar neamh thuas agus ar talamh thíos.
11 Oyendo esto, ha desmayado nuestro corazón; ni ha quedado más espíritu en alguno por causa de vosotros: porque Jehová vuestro Dios es Dios arriba en los cielos y abajo en la tierra.
11 Und seit wir solches gehört haben, ist unser Herz verzagt und ist kein Mut mehr in jemand vor euch; denn der HERR, euer Gott, ist Gott oben im Himmel und unten auf Erden.
12 So now, will you give me your oath by the Lord, that, because I have been kind to you, you will be kind to my father's house,
12 Et maintenant, je vous prie, jurez-moi par l'Éternel que vous aurez pour la maison de mon père la même bonté que j'ai eue pour vous.
12 Anois dá bhrí sin, tugaigí an leabhar dom dar an Tiarna, ós rud é go raibh mise dílis cineálta libhse go mbeidh sibhse leis dílis cineálta le líon tí m'athar agus tugaigí geall cinnte dom,
12 Ruégoos pues ahora, me juréis por Jehová, que como he hecho misericordia con vosotros, así la haréis vosotros con la casa de mi padre, de lo cual me daréis una señal cierta;
12 So schwört mir nun bei dem HERRN, daß, weil ich an euch Barmherzigkeit getan habe, ihr auch an meines Vaters Hause Barmherzigkeit tut; und gebt mir ein gewisses Zeichen,
13 And that you will keep safe my father and mother and my brothers and sisters and all they have, so that death may not come on us?
13 Donnez-moi l'assurance que vous laisserez vivre mon père, ma mère, mes frères, mes soeurs, et tous ceux qui leur appartiennent, et que vous nous sauverez de la mort.
13 go ndéanfaidh sibh anacal ar m'athair agus ar mo mháthair, ar mo dheartháireacha agus ar mo dheirfiúracha, agus ar gach aon duine a bhaineann leo, agus go dtabharfaidh sibh slán ón mbás sinn.”
13 Y que salvaréis la vida á mi padre y á mi madre, y á mis hermanos y hermanas, y á todo lo que es suyo; y que libraréis nuestras vidas de la muerte.
13 daß ihr leben lasset meinen Vater, meine Mutter, meine Brüder und meine Schwestern und alles, was sie haben, und errettet unsere Seelen vom Tode.
14 And the men said to her, Our life for yours if you keep our business secret; and when the Lord has given us the land, we will keep faith and be kind to you.
14 Ces hommes lui répondirent: Nous sommes prêts à mourir pour vous, si vous ne divulguez pas ce qui nous concerne; et quand l'Éternel nous donnera le pays, nous agirons envers toi avec bonté et fidélité.
14 Ansin d'fhreagair na fir í: “Ár n‑anam in áit bhur n‑anam, mura sceitheann tú ar an réiteach eadrainn; beimid cineálta dílis leat nuair a bhronnfaidh an Tiarna an fearann orainn.”
14 Y ellos le respondieron: Nuestra alma por vosotros hasta la muerte, si no denunciareis este nuestro negocio: y cuando Jehová nos hubiere dado la tierra, nosotros haremos contigo misericordia y verdad.
14 Die Männer sprachen zu ihr: Tun wir nicht Barmherzigkeit und Treue an dir, wenn uns der HERR das Land gibt, so soll unsere Seele für euch des Todes sein, sofern du unser Geschäft nicht verrätst.
15 Then she let them down from the window by a cord, for the house where she was living was on the town wall.
15 Elle les fit descendre avec une corde par la fenêtre, car la maison qu'elle habitait était sur la muraille de la ville.
15 Ansin lig Rácháb síos iad ar théad ón bhfuinneog mar bhí an teach buailte le balla na cathrach ach í ina conaí laistigh den bhalla.
15 Entonces ella los hizo descender con una cuerda por la ventana; porque su casa estaba á la pared del muro, y ella vivía en el muro.
15 Da ließ sie dieselben am Seil durchs Fenster hernieder; denn ihr Haus war an der Stadtmauer, und sie wohnte auch auf der Mauer.
16 And she said to them, Get away into the hill-country, or the men who have gone after you will overtake you; keep yourselves safe there for three days, till the searchers have come back, and then go on your way.
16 Elle leur dit: Allez du côté de la montagne, de peur que ceux qui vous poursuivent ne vous rencontrent; cachez-vous là pendant trois jours, jusqu'à ce qu'ils soient de retour; après cela, vous suivrez votre chemin.
16 Dúirt sí leo: “Suas libh faoi na sléibhte chun éalú ón tóir atá oraibh. Téigí i bhfolach ar feadh trí lá go bhfillfidh an tóir agus ansin imígí libh.”
16 Y díjoles: Marchaos al monte, porque los que fueron tras vosotros no os encuentren; y estad escondidos allí tres días, hasta que los que os siguen hayan vuelto; y después os iréis vuestro camino.
16 Und sie sprach zu ihnen: Geht auf das Gebirge, daß euch nicht begegnen, die euch nachjagen, und verbergt euch daselbst drei Tage, bis daß sie wiederkommen, die euch nachjagen; darnach geht eure Straße.
17 And the men said to her, We will only be responsible for this oath which you have made us take,
17 Ces hommes lui dirent: Voici de quelle manière nous serons quittes du serment que tu nous as fait faire.
17 D'fhreagair na fir: “An mionn a chuir tú d'iallach orainn a mhionnú duit, ní luífidh sé orainn ach ar na coinníollacha seo:
17 Y ellos le dijeron: Nosotros seremos desobligados de este juramento con que nos has conjurado.
17 Die Männer aber sprachen zu ihr: Wir wollen aber des Eides los sein, den du von uns genommen hast,
18 If, when we come into the land, you put this cord of bright red thread in the window from which you let us down; and get your father and mother and your brothers and all your family into the house;
18 A notre entrée dans le pays, attache ce cordon de fil cramoisi à la fenêtre par laquelle tu nous fais descendre, et recueille auprès de toi dans la maison ton père, ta mère, tes frères, et toute la famille de ton père.
18 Féach nuair thiocfaimidne isteach sa tír déansa an coirdín craorag seo a cheangal den fhuinneog ónar scaoil tú anuas sinn; ní foláir duit d'athair agus do mháthair agus muintir d'athar ar fad a thabhairt leat isteach i do theach.
18 He aquí, cuando nosotros entráremos en la tierra, tú atarás este cordón de grana á la ventana por la cual nos descolgaste: y tú juntarás en tu casa tu padre y tu madre, tus hermanos y toda la familia de tu padre.
18 wenn wir kommen ins Land und du nicht dies rote Seil in das Fenster knüpfst, womit du uns herniedergelassen hast, und zu dir ins Haus versammelst deinen Vater, deine Mutter, deine Brüder und deines Vaters ganzes Haus.
19 Then if anyone goes out of your house into the street, his blood will be on his head, we will not be responsible; but if any damage comes to anyone in the house, his blood will be on our heads.
19 Si quelqu'un d'eux sort de la porte de ta maison pour aller dehors, son sang retombera sur sa tête, et nous en serons innocent; mais si on met la main sur l'un quelconque de ceux qui seront avec toi dans la maison, son sang retombera sur notre tête.
19 Má théann aon duine thar thairseacha do thí amach sa tsráid, beidh a chuid fola sa mhullach air féin, ach beimidne neamhchiontach; ach má leagtar lámh ar aon duine a bheidh farat sa teach, beidh a chuid fola sa mhullach orainne.
19 Cualquiera que saliere fuera de las puertas de tu casa, su sangre será sobre su cabeza, y nosotros sin culpa. Mas cualquiera que se estuviere en casa contigo, su sangre será sobre nuestra cabeza, si mano le tocare.
19 Und wer zu Tür deines Hauses herausgeht, des Blut sei auf seinem Haupt, und wir unschuldig; aber aller, die in deinem Hause sind, so eine Hand an sie gelegt wird, so soll ihr Blut auf unserm Haupt sein.
20 But if you say anything about our business here, then we will be free from the oath you have made us take.
20 Et si tu divulgues ce qui nous concerne, nous serons quittes du serment que tu nous as fait faire.
20 Ach má sceitheann tú ar an ngnó seo againne, ansin beimid saor ón mionn a chuir tú d'iallach orainn a thabhairt duit.”
20 Y si tú denunciares este nuestro negocio, nosotros seremos desobligados de este tu juramento con que nos has juramentado.
20 Und so du etwas von diesem unserm Geschäft wirst aussagen, so wollen wir des Eides los sein, den du von uns genommen hast.
21 And she said, Let it be as you say. Then she sent them away, and they went; and she put the bright red cord in the window.
21 Elle répondit: Qu'il en soit selon vos paroles. Elle prit ainsi congé d'eux, et ils s'en allèrent. Et elle attacha le cordon de cramoisi à la fenêtre.
21 Agus dúirt sí: “Bíodh mar a deir sibh.” Scaoil sí leo agus d'imíodar. Cheangail sí an coirdín craorag den fhuinneog.
21 Y ella respondió: Sea así como habéis dicho. Luego los despidió, y se fueron: y ella ató el cordón de grana á la ventana.
21 Sie sprach: Es sei, wie ihr sagt, und ließ sie gehen. Und sie gingen hin. Und sie knüpfte das rote Seil ins Fenster.
22 And they went into the hill-country and were there three days, till the men who had gone after them had come back; and those who went after them were searching for them everywhere without coming across them.
22 Ils partirent, et arrivèrent à la montagne, où ils restèrent trois jours, jusqu'à ce que ceux qui les poursuivaient fussent de retour. Ceux qui les poursuivaient les cherchèrent par tout le chemin, mais ils ne les trouvèrent pas.
22 Chuireadar chun siúil agus suas leo faoi na sléibhte, agus d'fhanadar ansiúd trí lá go dtí gur fhill an tóir tar éis dóibh an dúiche go léir a chuardach ach gan iad a fháil.
22 Y caminando ellos, llegaron al monte, y estuvieron allí tres días, hasta que los que los seguían se hubiesen vuelto: y los que los siguieron, buscaron por todo el camino, mas no los hallaron.
22 Sie aber gingen hin und kamen aufs Gebirge und blieben drei Tage daselbst, bis daß die wiederkamen, die ihnen nachjagten. Denn sie hatten sie gesucht auf allen Straßen, und doch nicht gefunden.
23 Then the two men came down from the hill-country and went over and came back to Joshua, the son of Nun; and they gave him a complete account of what had taken place.
23 Les deux hommes s'en retournèrent, descendirent de la montagne, et passèrent le Jourdain. Ils vinrent auprès de Josué, fils de Nun, et lui racontèrent tout ce qui leur était arrivé.
23 Ansin tháinig an bheirt anuas ó na sléibhte agus anall thar abhainn leo agus thángadar go Iósua mac Nún agus d'insíodar dó gach ar tharla dóibh.
23 Y tornándose los dos varones, descendieron del monte, y pasaron, y vinieron á Josué hijo de Nun, y contáronle todas las cosas que les habían acontecido.
23 Also kehrten die zwei Männer wieder und gingen vom Gebirge und fuhren über und kamen zu Josua, dem Sohn Nuns, und erzählten ihm alles, wie sie es gefunden hatten,
24 And they said to Joshua, Truly, the Lord has given all the land into our hands; and all the people of the land have become like water because of us.
24 Ils dirent à Josué: Certainement, l'Éternel a livré tout le pays entre nos mains, et même tous les habitants du pays tremblent devant nous.
24 Dúradar le Iósua: “Tá an tír go léir tabhartha faoinár láimh ag an Tiarna, agus tá ballchrith ar a gcónaíonn ann le heagla romhainn.”
24 Y dijeron á Josué: Jehová ha entregado toda la tierra en nuestras manos; y también todos los moradores del país están desmayados delante de nosotros.
24 und sprachen zu Josua: Der HERR hat uns alles Land in unsre Hände gegeben; so sind auch alle Einwohner des Landes feig vor uns.
