1 Now when Israel was living in Shittim the people became false to the Lord, doing evil with the daughters of Moab:
1 Israël demeurait à Sittim; et le peuple commença à se livrer à la débauche avec les filles de Moab.
1 Chuir Iosrael fúthu i Sitím, agus chrom na daoine ar striapachas a dhéanamh le hógmhná Mhóáb.
1 Y Reposo Israel en Sittim, y el pueblo empezó á fornicar con las hijas de Moab:
1 Und Israel wohnte in Sittim. Und das Volk hob an zu huren mit der Moabiter Töchtern,
2 For they sent for the people to be present at the offerings made to their gods; and the people took part in their feasts and gave honour to their gods.
2 Elles invitèrent le peuple aux sacrifices de leurs dieux; et le peuple mangea, et se prosterna devant leurs dieux.
2 Thugadarsan cuireadh don phobal go féastaí a ndéithe, agus chaith an pobal an bia agus shléachtadar dá ndeithe.
2 Las cuales llamaron al pueblo á los sacrificios de sus dioses: y el pueblo comió, é inclinóse á sus dioses.
2 welche luden das Volk zum Opfer ihrer Götter. Und das Volk aß und betete ihre Götter an.
3 So Israel had relations with the women of Moab in honour of the Baal of Peor: and the Lord was moved to wrath against Israel.
3 Israël s'attacha à Baal Peor, et la colère de l'Éternel s'enflamma contre Israël.
3 Ghabh Iosrael faoi chuing Bhál Peór ar an gcuma sin agus las fraoch feirge an Tiarna ina n‑aghaidh.
3 Y allegóse el pueblo á Baal-peor; y el furor de Jehová se encendió contra Israel.
3 Und Israel hängte sich an den Baal-Peor. Da ergrimmte des HERRN Zorn über Israel,
4 Then the Lord said to Moses, Take all the chiefs of the people, hanging them up in the sun before the Lord, so that the wrath of the Lord may be turned from Israel.
4 L'Éternel dit à Moïse: Assemble tous les chefs du peuple, et fais pendre les coupables devant l'Éternel en face du soleil, afin que la colère ardente de l'Éternel se détourne d'Israël.
4 Dúirt an Tiarna le Maois: “Tóg ceannairí uile an phobail, agus caith le faill i lár an lae ghéigil ghil i bhfianaise an Tiarna iad; ansin iompóidh cuthach feirge an Tiarna ó Iosrael.”
4 Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Toma todos los príncipes del pueblo, y ahórcalos á Jehová delante del sol; y la ira del furor de Jehová se apartará de Israel.
4 und er sprach zu Mose: nimm alle Obersten des Volks und hänge sie dem HERRN auf an der Sonne, auf daß der grimmige Zorn des HERRN von Israel gewandt werde.
5 So Moses said to the judges of Israel, Let everyone put to death those of his men who have had relations with the women of Moab in honour of the Baal of Peor.
5 Moïse dit aux juges d'Israël: Que chacun de vous tue ceux de ses gens qui se sont attachés à Baal Peor.
5 Dúirt Maois leis na breithiúna in Iosrael: “Ní foláir do gach duine agaibh iad siúd dá mhuintir a chuaigh faoi chuing Bhál Peór a chur chun báis.”
5 Entonces Moisés dijo á los jueces de Israel: Matad cada uno á aquellos de los suyos que se han allegado á Baal-peor.
5 Und Mose sprach zu den Richtern Israels: Erwürge ein jeglicher seine Leute, die sich an den Baal-Peor gehängt haben.
6 Then one of the children of Israel came to his brothers, taking with him a woman of Midian, before the eyes of Moses and all the meeting of the people, while they were weeping at the door of the Tent of meeting.
6 Et voici, un homme des enfants d'Israël vint et amena vers ses frères une Madianite, sous les yeux de Moïse et sous les yeux de toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, tandis qu'ils pleuraient à l'entrée de la tente d'assignation.
6 Seo fear de chlann Iosrael ag gabháil an treo agus an bhean Mhidiánach á tabhairt isteach ina theaghlach aige, os comhair súile Mhaois agus chomhthionól uile chlann Iosrael agus iad ag lógóireacht ag doras Bhoth na Teagmhála.
6 Y he aquí un varón de los hijos de Israel vino y trajo una Madianita á sus hermanos, á ojos de Moisés y de toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, llorando ellos á la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio.
6 Und siehe, ein Mann aus den Kindern Israel kam und brachte unter seine Brüder eine Midianitin vor den Augen Mose's und der ganzen Gemeinde der Kinder Israel, die da weinten vor der Tür der Hütte des Stifts.
7 And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, seeing it, got up from among the people and took a spear in his hand,
7 A cette vue, Phinées, fils d'Éléazar, fils du sacrificateur Aaron, se leva du milieu de l'assemblée, et prit une lance, dans sa main.
7 Píneachás mac Eileázár mhic Árón, an sagart, nuair a chonaic sé é sin, d'éirigh sé, d'fhág an comhthionól, agus rug ar shleá,
7 Y viólo Phinees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón el sacerdote, y levantóse de en medio de la congregación, y tomó una lanza en su mano:
7 Da das sah Pinehas, der Sohn Eleasars, des Sohnes Aarons, des Priesters, stand er auf aus der Gemeinde und nahm einen Spieß in seine Hand
8 And went after the man of Israel into the tent, driving the spear through the two of them, through the man of Israel and through the stomach of the woman. So the disease was stopped among the children of Israel.
8 Il suivit l'homme d'Israël dans sa tente, et il les perça tous les deux, l'homme d'Israël, puis la femme, par le bas-ventre. Et la plaie s'arrêta parmi les enfants d'Israël.
8 agus chuaigh ar tí an Iosraelaigh isteach sa seomra cúil agus sháigh sé an tsleá go feirc sa bhléin iontu araon, an tIosraelach fir agus an bhean. Stad an phlá a bhuail clann Iosrael ar an gcaoi sin.
8 Y fué tras el varón de Israel á la tienda, y alanceólos á ambos, al varón de Israel, y á la mujer por su vientre. Y cesó la mortandad de los hijos de Israel.
8 und ging dem israelitischen Mann nach hinein in die Kammer und durchstach sie beide, den israelitischen Mann und das Weib, durch ihren Bauch. Da hörte die Plage auf von den Kindern Israel.
9 But twenty-four thousand of them had come to their death by the disease.
9 Il y en eut vingt-quatre mille qui moururent de la plaie.
9 Bhí ceithre mhíle fichead marbh den phlá cheana féin, dá ainneoin sin.
9 Y murieron de aquella mortandad veinte y cuatro mil.
9 Und es wurden getötet in der Plage vierundzwanzigtausend.
10 And the Lord said to Moses,

10 Entonces Jehová habló á Moisés, diciendo:
10 Und der HERR redete mit Mose und sprach:
11 Through Phinehas, and because of his passion for my honour, my wrath has been turned away from the children of Israel, so that I have not sent destruction on them all in my wrath.
11 Phinées, fils d'Éléazar, fils du sacrificateur Aaron, a détourné ma fureur de dessus les enfants d'Israël, parce qu'il a été animé de mon zèle au milieu d'eux; et je n'ai point, dans ma colère, consumé les enfants d'Israël.
11 “Píneachás, sagart, mac Eileázár mhic Árón, chuir sé mo chuthach de chlann Iosrael, óir is aige amháin a bhí dúthracht mar mo dhúthrachtsa; uime sin níor scrios mé clann Iosrael de bharr mo dhúthrachta.
11 Phinees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón el sacerdote, ha hecho tornar mi furor de los hijos de Israel, llevado de celo entre ellos: por lo cual yo no he consumido en mi celo á los hijos de Israel.
11 Pinehas, der Sohn Eleasars, des Sohnes Aarons, des Priesters, hat meinen Grimm von den Kindern Israel gewendet durch seinen Eifer um mich, daß ich nicht in meinem Eifer die Kinder Israel vertilgte.
12 So say to them that I will make with him an agreement of peace:
12 C'est pourquoi tu diras que je traite avec lui une alliance de paix.

13 And by this agreement, he and his sons after him have the right to be priests for ever; because, by his care for the honour of his God, he took away the sin of the children of Israel.
13 Ce sera pour lui et pour sa postérité après lui l'alliance d'un sacerdoce perpétuel, parce qu'il a été zélé pour son Dieu, et qu'il a fait l'expiation pour les enfants d'Israël.
13 agus beidh sé in chonradh sagartachta síoraí aigesean agus ag a shliocht dá éis, óir bhí dúthracht aige i mbun a Dhé, agus rinne sé leorghníomh do phobal Iosrael.’ ”
13 Y tendrá él, y su simiente después de él, el pacto del sacerdocio perpetuo; por cuanto tuvo celo por su Dios, é hizo expiación por los hijos de Israel.
13 und er soll haben und sein Same nach ihm den Bund eines ewigen Priestertums, darum daß er für seinen Gott geeifert und die Kinder Israel versöhnt hat.
14 Now the man of Israel who was put to death with the woman of Midian was Zimri, the son of Salu, a chief of one of the families of the Simeonites.
14 L'homme d'Israël, qui fut tué avec la Madianite, s'appelait Zimri, fils de Salu; il était chef d'une maison paternelle des Siméonites.
14 An tIosraelach a maraíodh - an té úd is é sin a maraíodh leis an mbean Mhidiánach - Zimrí mac Sálú a ba ainm dó, ceannaire ar theaghlach sinseartha de chuid Shímeon.
14 Y el nombre del varón muerto, que fué muerto con la Madianita, era Zimri hijo de Salu, jefe de una familia de la tribu de Simeón.
14 Der israelitische Mann aber, der erschlagen ward mit der Midianitin, hieß Simri, der Sohn Salus, der Fürst eines Vaterhauses der Simeoniter.
15 And the woman of Midian who was put to death was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was the head of a family in Midian.
15 La femme qui fut tuée, la Madianite, s'appelait Cozbi, fille de Tsur, chef des peuplades issues d'une maison paternelle en Madian.
15 An Midiánach mná a maraíodh, Cozbaí iníon Zúr - taoiseach sleachta, teaghlach sinseartha i Midián - a ba ainm di.
15 Y el nombre de la mujer Madianita muerta, era Cozbi, hija de Zur, príncipe de pueblos, padre de familia en Madián.
15 Das midianitische Weib, das auch erschlagen ward, hieß Kosbi, eine Tochter Zurs, der ein Fürst war seines Geschlechts unter den Midianitern.
16 Then the Lord said to Moses,
16 L'Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:

16 Y Jehová habló á Moisés, diciendo:
16 Und der HERR redete mit Mose und sprach:
17 Take up arms against the Midianites and overcome them;
17 Traite les Madianites en ennemis, et tuez-les;
17 “Buair na Midiánaigh agus buail iad.
17 Hostilizaréis á los Madianitas, y los heriréis:
17 Tut den Midianitern Schaden und schlagt sie;
18 For they are a danger to you with their false ways, causing sin to come on you in the question of Peor, and because of Cozbi, their sister, the daughter of the chief of Midian, who was put to death at the time of the disease which came on you because of Peor.
18 car ils se sont montrés vos ennemis, en vous séduisant par leurs ruses, dans l'affaire de Peor, et dans l'affaire de Cozbi, fille d'un chef de Madian, leur soeur, tuée le jour de la plaie qui eut lieu à l'occasion de Peor.
18 Óir bhuair siad thú lena gcluain i ngnó Pheór, agus i ngnó Chozbaí a siúr, iníon taoisigh i Midián, an bhean a maraíodh an lá a bhuail an phlá de bharr Pheór.”
18 Por cuanto ellos os afligieron á vosotros con sus ardides, con que os han engañado en el negocio de Peor, y en el negocio de Cozbi, hija del príncipe de Madián, su hermana, la cual fué muerta el día de la mortandad por causa de Peor.
18 denn sie haben euch Schaden getan mit ihrer List, die sie wider euch geübt haben durch den Peor und durch ihre Schwester Kosbi, die Tochter des Fürsten der Midianiter, die erschlagen ist am Tag der Plage um des Peor willen.
